Department of Education IUB Celebrates International Literacy Day 2020

The Department of Education, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized an online seminar to celebrate International Literacy Day 2020.  International Literacy Day is observed on September 8 every year to raise awareness and concern for literacy problems that exist within our own local communities as well as, globally. It is an annual celebration by UNESCO to highlight global needs of literacy with its mission of literacy for everyone and everywhere. This year the theme of International Literacy Day 2020 was, “Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, role of educators and changing pedagogies”.  Prof. Dr. Shahida Sajjad, Vice Chancellor, Malir University of Science and Technology, Karachi delivered an insightful speech on Online Learning Innovations- Converting threats into opportunities. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur said in his message that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the country. We believe in quality education and equip our graduates with modern knowledge, reasoning, life skills with futuristic vision and wisdom.  The Islamia University of Bahawalpur focuses on research and development to address academic as well as societal issues. During the outbreak of COVID-19, university set an example of online teaching by using modern technologies and apps, the developed our own Learning Management System (LMS), organized training workshops for the faculty.  The Vice Chancellor further said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is determined to impart quality education and academic excellence through collaboration and linkage with international universities and institutions of Higher Education. Currently we have collaboration with more than 100 national and international universities and professional organizations.  The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Irshad Hussain, Chairman, Department of Education and his team on organizing this seminar. Prof. Dr. Akhtar Ali, Dean Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Akhtar, Chairperson, Department of Special Education, Faculty members and students of the Department of Education participated in the event.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے شعبہ تعلیم میں انٹرنیشنل لٹریسی ڈے کے موقع پر ایک آن لائن سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ بین الاقوامی یوم خواندگی 2020 کا موضوع کووڈ 19 کے بحران میں اساتذہ کاکردار اور تغیر پذیر طریقہ ہائے تدریس تھا۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شاہدہ سجاد، وائس چانسلر، ملیر یونیورسٹی آف سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی،کراچی مہمان مقرر تھیں۔ انہوں نے آن لائن لرننگ میں جدت - خطرات کومواقع میں تبدیل کرنے پر گفتگو کی۔ انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر نے اپنے پیغام میں کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور ملک میں اعلی تعلیم کے بڑے اداروں میں سے ایک ہے۔ یونیورسٹی میں طلباء و طالبات کو جدید علوم اور زندگی کی مہارتوں سے مزین کیا جاتا ہے تا کہ وہ مستقبل میں اپنی بھرپور زندگی گزار سکیں۔ جامعہ نے لرننگ مینجمنٹ سسٹم (ایل ایم ایس) تیار کیا، فیکلٹی کے لئے تربیتی ورکشاپس کا اہتمام کیا اور تدریسی عمل کا آغاز کیا۔اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور بین الاقوامی یونیورسٹیوں اور ہائر ایجوکیشن کے اداروں کے ساتھ باہمی اشتراک اور رابطے کے ذریعہ معیاری تعلیم اور تعلیمی سہولیات مہیا کرنے کے لیے پُر عزم ہے۔ جامعہ اسلامیہ  100 سے زیادہ قومی اور بین الاقوامی یونیورسٹیوں اور پیشہ ورانہ تنظیموں کے ساتھ منسلک ہے۔ انہوں نے سیمینار کے انعقاد پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ارشاد حسین، چیئرمین شعبہ تعلیم اور ان کی ٹیم کی کاوشوں کو سراہا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اختر علی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایجوکیشن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نسرین اختر، چیئرپرسن، شعبہ خصوصی تعلیم، فیکلٹی ممبران اور شعبہ تعلیم کے طلباؤ طالبات نے شرکت کی۔
