IUB in collaboration with ECP, PILDAT and UNDP organized an activity on the importance of electoral process in Pakistan

The Department of Political Science, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in collaboration with the Election Commission of Pakistan, PILDAT and the United Nations Development Program organized a panel discussion and mock election exercise on the importance of youth participation in the electoral process of Pakistan. The event was hosted by Focal Person Dr. Shakeel Akhtar, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science. Project Manager PILDAT Faheem Ahmed Khan gave a brief overview of the organization and the statistics of the number of voters from different sections of the society. Panelists of Election Commission of Pakistan, Regional Election Commissioner Mian Muhammad Shahid and District Election Commissioner Muhammad Qayyum were involved in the discussion. The panelists of the Faculty of Political Science included Prof. Dr. Mussawar Hussain Bukhari and youth representative Sumaira Manzoor and Shahnawaz PhD Scholars. The importance of youth participation in the electoral process of Pakistan and the factors that reduce the participation of youth in the electoral process were discussed. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, addressed the audience and welcomed the awareness of the election process to the youth in collaboration with various institutions. Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Roofi Director Usman Buzdar School of State Sciences also participated in the event. After the panel discussion, a mock election exercise was conducted by the Election Commission of Pakistan in which the students participated enthusiastically.

شعبہ سیاسیات اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان، پلڈاٹ اور یونائیٹڈ نیشنز ڈویلپمنٹ پروگرام کے اشتراک سے پاکستان کے انتخابی عمل میں نوجوانوں کی شرکت کی اہمیت کے موضوع پر پینل مباحثے اور فرضی انتخابی مشق کی کارروائی کا انعقاد کیا۔ تقریب کی میزبانی فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر شکیل اختر، ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر، شعبہ سیاسیات نے کی۔پراجیکٹ منیجر پلڈاٹ فہیم احمد خان نے تنظیم کا مختصر جائزہ اور معاشرے کے مختلف طبقات سے ووٹروں کی تعداد کے اعدادوشمار پیش کئے۔ مباحثے میں الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان کے پینلسٹ، ریجنل الیکشن کمشنر میاں محمد شاہد اور ڈسٹرکٹ الیکشن کمشنر محمد قیوم شامل تھے۔ شعبہ سیاسیات کی فیکلٹی کے پینلسٹ میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مصور حسین بخاری اور نوجوانوں کی نمائندہ سمیرا منظور اور شاہنواز پی ایچ ڈی سکالرز شامل تھے۔ پاکستان کے انتخابی عمل میں نوجوانوں کی شرکت کی اہمیت اور انتخابی عمل میں نوجوانوں کی شرکت کو کم کرنے والے عوامل کے حوالے سے گفتگو کی گئی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے حاضرین سے خطاب کیا اور مختلف اداروں کے اشتراک سے نوجوانوں کو انتخابی عمل سے آگاہی کو خوش آئند قرار دیا۔ تقریب میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر یاسمین روفی ڈائریکٹر سکول آف سٹیٹ سائنسز نے بھی شرکت کی۔ پینل ڈسکشن کے بعد الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان کی جانب سے فرضی انتخابی مشق کا انعقاد کیا گیا جس میں طلباء نے جوش و خروش سے حصہ لیا۔
