A two-day international conference on Social Sciences and Humanities has started under the auspices of Pakistan Studies Department, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The inaugural session was presided over by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur while Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi, Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan was the special guest on the occasion. The conference is attended by delegates from USA, Germany, UK, Italy, Malaysia and Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in his address, said that social science experts would come together on a single platform to discuss various issues and challenges and look for solutions. He said that Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in accordance with the vision of Nawab of Bahawalpur which today has become one of the largest universities in the country in terms of departments, students and faculty. The university is playing an important role in social and economic development by ensuring high standards in teaching and research. Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi appreciated the convening of the conference on the subject of social sciences and humanities and stressed that domestic and foreign delegates from various fields were present on the occasion will benefit from extensive experience and observation. The focal person of the conference Prof. Dr. Aftab Hussain Gillani thanked the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob for his special interest in organizing the conference and appreciated the presence of domestic and foreign delegates. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti said that a series of conferences on social sciences is being held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur which is good news for researchers in this field. Prof. Dr. Iqbal Akhtar Professor of Florida International University and Prof. Dr. Aslam Syed delivered a keynote address on research in social sciences. Member Syndicate Prof. Hameed Raza Siddiqui said that Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has set an excellent example in the field of higher education by ensuring the extraordinary development of the university and the arrival of experts from all over the world at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. There is evidence that the university is making significant strides in teaching and research. Five sessions were held on the first day of the conference. The first session on Federalism in Pakistan was chaired by Prof. Dr. Javed Saliana. The second session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ismat Naz on the topic of Electoral Politics in Pakistan. The third session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Fakhrul Islam on the topic of different ethnic, religious and political classes in Pakistan. In the fourth session, the situation of minorities in South Asia was discussed and the session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mahboob Hussain, Chairman, Department of Political Science, Punjab University, Lahore. The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rehman, Dean, Faculty of Islamic Learning, Prof. Dr. Akhtar Ali, Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jameel, Registrar and M.Phil and Ph.D Scholars in large numbers.

شعبہ مطالعہ پاکستان اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیر اہتمام سوشل سائنسز اینڈ ہومنیٹیز کے عنوان پر دو روزہ انٹرنیشنل کانفرنس کا آغاز ہو گیا ہے۔ افتتاحی سیشن کی صدارت انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر نے کی جبکہ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر منصور اکبر کنڈی وائس چانسلر بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان اس موقع پر مہمان خصوصی تھے۔ کانفرنس میں امریکہ، جرمنی، برطانیہ، اٹلی، ملائیشیا اور پاکستان سے آئے ہوئے مندوبین شریک ہیں۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ سماجی علوم کے ماہرین کا ایک پلیٹ فارم پر جمع ہو کر مختلف مسائل اور چیلنجز سے متعلق تبادلہ خیال اور اُن سے متعلق حل کا جائزہ لیا جائے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نواب آف بہاول پور کے ویژن کے مطابق قائم کی گئی جو آج شعبہ جات اور طلباء وطالبات وفیکلٹی کے اعتبار سے ملک کی ایک بڑی جامعہ بن چکی ہے۔ یہ جامعہ تدریسی اور تحقیق میں اعلیٰ معیار کو یقینی بناتے ہوئے سماجی اور معاشی ترقی میں اہم کردار ادا کر رہی ہے۔ وائس چانسلر بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان پروفیسرڈاکٹر منظور اکبر کنڈی نے سماجی علوم اور ہیومنیٹیز کے موضوع پر ہونے والی کانفرنس کے انعقاد کو سراہا اور اس بات پر زور دیا کہ مختلف شعبوں سے آئے ملکی اور غیر ملکی مندوبین اس موقع پر اساتذہ اور محققین کو اپنے وسیع تجربے اور مشاہدے سے مستفید کریں گے۔ کانفرنس کے فوکل پرسن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر آفتاب حسین گیلانی  نے کانفرنس کے انعقاد میں خصوصی دلچسپی پر وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور ملکی اور غیر ملکی مندوبین کی آمد کو سراہا۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹرروبینہ بھٹی نے کہا کہ سماجی علوم پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں سیریز آف کانفرنس ہو رہی ہے جو اس شعبے میں محققین کے لیے اچھی خبر ہے۔اس موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اقبال اختر فلوریڈا انٹرنیشنل یونیورسٹی اورروہل یونیورسٹی جرمنی کے استاد پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اسلم سید نے سماجی علوم میں تحقیق پر کلیدی خطاب کیا۔ ممبر سینڈیکیٹ پروفیسر حمید رضا صدیقی نے کہا کہ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے یونیورسٹی کی غیر معمولی ترقی کو یقینی بناتے ہوئے اعلیٰ تعلیم کے شعبے میں ایک بہترین مثال قائم کی ہے اور دنیا بھر سے ماہرین کی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں آمد اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ یونیورسٹی تدریس اور تحقیق میں کارہائے نمایاں سرانجام دے رہی ہے۔کانفرنس کے پہلے روز پانچ سیشن منعقد ہوئے۔ پاکستان میں فیڈرل ازم کے موضوع پر منعقد ہونے والے پہلے سیشن کی صدارت پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جاوید سلیانہ نے کی۔ دوسرا سیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عصمت ناز کی زیر صدارت پاکستان میں الیکٹورل پولیٹکس کے موضوع پر منعقد ہوا۔تیسرا سیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر فخرالاسلام کی زیر صدارت پاکستان میں مختلف نسلی، مذہبی اور سیاسی طبقات کے موضوع پر ہوا۔ چوتھے سیشن میں جنوبی ایشیا میں اقلیتوں کے حالات پرتبادلہ خیال کیا گیا اور منعقد ہونے والے سیشن کی صدارت پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محبوب حسین  چیئر مین شعبہ سیاسیات پنجاب یونیوسٹی نے کی۔ کانفرنس میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم ڈین فیکلٹی آف سائنسز، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک لرننگ، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اختر علی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایجوکیشن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل رجسٹرار اور ایم فل وپی ایچ ڈی سکالرز نے کثیر تعداد میں شرکت کی۔
