Islamia University of Bahawalpur launches botanical garden and flower exhibition to boost research and conservation

Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that plots of land have been allocated in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus to make the research activities of the departments active and productive. These departments are using these allocated lands for research purposes. The Vice-Chancellor expressed these views on the occasion of the inauguration of the Botanical Garden in the land allocated for the Department of Botany. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum planted a saplings. Chairperson of department, Dr. Nargis Naz, said in her briefing that different types of plants will be planted in the botanical garden. This garden will also work for the identification and conservation of plants. It will also have a seed bank, a herbarium containing native and non-native plants. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor also visited the exhibition of flowers planted by the students of the Department of Botany for spring. In the exhibition, plants and flowers were placed in a beautiful arrangement in accordance with spring.

انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے کہا ہے کہ شعبہ جات کی تحقیقی سرگرمیوں کو فعال اور نتیجہ خیز بنانے کے لیے بغداد الجدید کیمپس میں قطعات زمین مختص کیے گئے ہیں۔ یہ شعبہ جات ان مختص زمینوں کو تحقیقی مقاصد کے لیے استعمال کر رہے ہیں۔ جس سے تحقیق کے معیار میں اضافے کے ساتھ ساتھ محققین کو عملی تجربہ بھی حاصل ہوا ہے۔ وائس چانسلر نے ان خیالات کا اظہار شعبہ باٹنی کے لیے مختص کیے گئے قطعہ زمین میں نباتاتی باغ (بوٹینیکل گارڈن) کے افتتاح کے موقع پر کیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب اور ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیولوجیکل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم نے پودا بھی لگایا۔ چیئرپرسن شعبہ ڈاکٹر نرگس ناز نے اپنی بریفنگ میں بتایا کہ نباتاتی باغ میں مختلف انواع واقسام کے پودے لگائے جائیں گے۔ یہ گارڈن پودوں کی سناخت اور بقاء و تحفظ کے لیے بھی کام کرے گا۔ اس میں سیڈ بینک، مقامی اور غیر مقامی پودوں پر مشتمل ہربیریئم بھی قائم ہو گا۔ وائس چانسلر نے اس موقع پر شعبہ نباتیات کے طلباء وطالبات کی جانب سے موسم بہار کی مناسبت سے لگائی گئی پھولوں کی نمائش کا بھی دورہ کیا۔ نمائش میں بہار کی مناسبت سے پودوں اور پھولوں کوحسن ترتیب سے رکھا گیا۔
