IUB and IEEE Foundation Constructed Biogas Plant in a Village near Uch Sharif

IEEE, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Branch in collaboration with the IEEE Foundation has worked on a clean and green energy project using Animal waste. A biogas plant has been constructed in a village near Uch Sharif. The produced gas is used for Electricity generation and household usage. A 12KVA generator is also installed at the site which is also funded by IEEE. The project achieves awareness of green and clean energy to the local community, production of clean and green energy, Efficient decomposition of animal waste which otherwise is harmful for the environment production of super fertilizer. Taking with media, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur said that the Electricity through bio gas is not a new idea and a lot of work has been done around the Globe on this technology. However, being a third world country, this renewable technology has not much flourished in Pakistan. It is only used for running stoves on very low scale and a very small community is taking benefits from it. Being an Agricultural country, where 70% of the population belongs to the rural area, this renewable technology can help people a lot by providing cheap electricity and gas. Moreover, the project reduces the waste, clean the environment, reduce the greenhouse effect, and provide excellent fertilizer for the fields.  Engr. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Engr. Asjad Amin further said that this project consists of multiple workshops, panel discussions and public awareness sessions, implementation of one complete plant in the local area which will make it clear to people of the specified region about the Sustainable Electricity through Bio-Gas. The prime goal of this project is to provide clean and sustainable electricity to an area which has been deprived of power for ages. The project will be helpful in dealing with livestock waste which is reason of many diseases among humans and cattle in rural areas. The project will provide lifelong learning and above all, masses will get aware from the sustainable engineering. The general public which varies from a student to a common working in fields will know about the concept of sustainable engineering.

انجینئرنگ کی عالمی تنظیم IEEEکے انجینئرنگ فیکلٹی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور سب سیکشن سے تعلق رکھنے والے طلبا نے اوچشریف کے نواحی گاؤں میں بائیو گیس کے پلانٹ کا کامیابی سے آغاز کردیا ہے۔ اس بائیو گیس پلانٹ کے ساتھ 12KVجنریٹرکی تنصیب کیلئے IEEE نے خصوصی گرانٹ فراہم کی ہے۔اس پراجیکٹ کا مقصد مقامی کمیونٹی کے لیے کلین اینڈ گرین انرجی فراہم کرنا ہے تاکہ سستی اور دیر پا نوعیت کی توانائی کی ضروریات کے مطابق بجلی اور ایندھن مہیا ہوسکیں۔وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کہا کہ یہ منصوبہ طلباء و طالبات کی جانب سے حکومت کی قابل تجدید توانائی اور کلین اینڈ گرین منصوبوں کا حصہ ہے اور اس پر اوچشریف جیسے دور افتادہ علاقے میں ایک تجرباتی منصوبے کے ذریعے عمل درآمد انتہائی خوش آئند ہے۔قابل تجدیدتوانائی کے ایسے منصوبے دیہی علاقوں میں توانائی کی ضروریات کو انتہائی ارزاں طریقے سے پورا کرسکتے ہیں۔انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد امجد ڈین فیکلٹی آف انجینئرنگ اور انجینئر اسجد امین پراجیکٹ ڈائریکٹر نے کہا کہ ایسے منصوبوں سے ماحول دوست طریقے سے بجلی پیدا کی جا رہی ہے۔ انجینئرنگ فیکلٹی میں اس مقصد کے لئے خصوصی ورکشاپس اور تربیتی پروگراموں کے ذریعے نوجوان انجینئر زمیں مقامی کمیونٹی کے فائدے کیلئے نت نئے منصوبے ترتیب دے رہی ہے اور یہ منصوبہ اِسی سلسلے کی ایک کڑی ہے۔
