IUB hosted a seminar on civic education in collaboration with the Center for Peace and Secular Studies, Lahore.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with the Centre for Peace and Secular Studies Lahore successfully hosted a one-day seminar on civic education in the Department of Applied Psychology Auditorium. Designed specifically for students, the seminar was a joint initiative by the Faculty of Social Sciences, the SDGs Collaboration Center, the Fatima Jinnah Women Leadership Center and the Centre for Peace and Secular Studies Lahore. The event aimed to enhance students understanding of civic education, empower them with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, and cultivate active citizenship within a democratic society. The seminar featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Syed Mussawar Hussain Bukhari, Chairman Department of Political Sciences, Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Chairman, Department of Social Work, Saeeda Diep, Founder and Executive Director, Centre for Peace and Secular Studies, Lahore. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Mariam Abbass, Additional Director, SDGs Collaborative Center. Prof. Asif Naveed Ranjha addressed that civic responsibility extends beyond the classroom. It involves active participation in community development and social change. By equipping students with knowledge and skills, we are empowering them to become agents of positive change. Prof. Syed Mussawar Hussain Bukhari highlighted the importance of understanding the principles of democracy and civic engagement for young people. He said that this seminar has provided a platform for students to explore these concepts and develop a deeper understanding of their role in the democratic process. Saeeda Diep addressed that civic education is essential for building a peaceful and inclusive society. We must encourage critical thinking and open dialogue among young people, enabling them to contribute to a more just and equitable world. In her address Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti said that civic education is the cornerstone of a thriving democracy. It empowers our youth to become informed and responsible citizens, capable of contributing meaningfully to society. We are committed to fostering an environment where students understand their rights and duties, and actively participate in shaping a better future. Students across various departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences participated in the event and they were engaged in insightful discussions and interactive sessions. The seminar concluded with the distribution of souvenirs and certificates to the organizers.

بہاولپور (پ ر) اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے سینٹر فار پیس اینڈ سیکولر اسٹڈیز لاہور کے تعاون سے شعبہ اپلائیڈ سائیکالوجی آڈیٹوریم میں شہری تعلیم کے موضوع پر ایک روزہ سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا۔ یہ سیمینار فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز، SDGs کولیبریشن سینٹر، فاطمہ جناح ویمن لیڈرشپ سینٹر اور سینٹر فار پیس اینڈ سیکولر اسٹڈیز لاہور کا مشترکہ اقدام تھا۔ اس تقریب کا مقصد طالب علموں کو شہری تعلیم کی سمجھ میں اضافہ کرنا، انہیں ان کے حقوق اور ذمہ داریوں کے علم سے بااختیار بنانا، اور جمہوری معاشرے میں فعال شہریت کو فروغ دینا تھا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے مہمان خصوصی شرکت کی۔ سیمینار میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سید مصور حسین بخاری، چیئرمین شعبہ سیاسیات، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر آصف نوید رانجھا، چیئرمین شعبہ سوشل ورک، سعیدہ دیپ، بانی اور ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر سینٹر فار پیس اینڈ سیکولر اسٹڈیز لاہور شریک تھے۔ سیمینار کی نظامت ڈاکٹر مریم عباس، ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر، SDGs کولیبریشن سینٹر نے کی۔ پروفیسر آصف نوید رانجھا نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ شہری ذمہ داری کلاس روم سے باہر ہوتی ہے۔ اس میں کمیونٹی کی ترقی اور سماجی تبدیلی میں فعال شرکت شامل ہے۔ طلباء کو علم اور ہنر سے آراستہ کرکے، ہم انہیں مثبت تبدیلی کے ایجنٹ بننے کے لیے بااختیار بنارہے ہیں۔ پروفیسر سید مصور حسین بخاری نے نوجوانوں کے لیے جمہوریت کے اصولوں اور شہری مصروفیات کو سمجھنے کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس سیمینار نے طلباء کو ان تصورات کو دریافت کرنے اور جمہوری عمل میں اپنے کردار کے بارے میں گہرا سمجھ پیدا کرنے کا ایک پلیٹ فارم فراہم کیا ہے۔ سعیدہ دیپ نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پرامن اور جامع معاشرے کی تعمیر کے لیے شہری تعلیم ضروری ہے۔ ہمیں نوجوانوں کے درمیان تنقیدی سوچ اور کھلے مکالمے کی حوصلہ افزائی کرنی چاہیے، تاکہ وہ زیادہ منصفانہ اور منصفانہ دنیا میں اپنا حصہ ڈال سکیں۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ شہری تعلیم ترقی پذیر جمہوریت کا سنگ بنیاد ہے۔ یہ ہمارے نوجوانوں کو باخبر اور ذمہ دار شہری بننے کے لیے بااختیار بناتا ہے، جو معاشرے میں بامعنی حصہ ڈالنے کے قابل ہوتے ہیں۔ ہم ایک ایسے ماحول کو فروغ دینے کے لیے پرعزم ہیں جہاں طلبہ اپنے حقوق اور فرائض کو سمجھیں، اور ایک بہتر مستقبل کی تشکیل میں سرگرمی سے حصہ لیں۔ فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز کے اندر مختلف شعبہ جات کے طلباء نے اس تقریب میں شرکت کی اور وہ بصیرت انگیز گفتگو اور انٹرایکٹو سیشنز میں مصروف رہے۔
