IUB Launched major project to cultivate 140 acres of barren land of the University

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has launched a major project to cultivate 140 acres of barren land of the University for the Acquisition of agricultural produce, supply of quality seeds and promotion of research. Under the project, the production of vegetables, fruits and herbs through unconventional farming methods is in various stages. The Department of Horticulture, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has not only made 25 acres of barren land cultivable in the pilot phase of its unique project, but has also started regular cultivation of 19 varieties of vegetables, 12 varieties of ornamental flowers and seasonal fruits. Water and cost savings have been ensured by introducing micro-fertilization system in the process of cultivation of high quality seed crops. The trial area has produced nutritious export-quality sour fruits, while palm mushrooms, other fruits, a variety of ornamental flowers and herbs used in herbal medicine are in the early stages. Cut flowers are vegetable exotic spices, they have adaptations within the region and work is being done to produce these spices and vegetables that have to be imported at exorbitant prices, and secondly, when the products are exported from here, not only the region. The economy of Pakistan will also benefit. Unconventional method of cultivation has been adopted in the process of preparation of vegetables throughout the year. In this method, potato, onion, cucumber, tomato, pea, chili, eggplant, pumpkin and salad crops are prepared by tin farming under controlled temperature are in different stages. We can train our students in better ways and in an upgraded setup so that when they graduate from here, they can then go all over the country and represent us as a good producer and help themselves and also the country. Work for at the university level, this type of farming is helping local farmers to adapt to modern agricultural requirements. The two major benefits of this far-reaching project for agricultural development are that it provides nationally trained manpower and makes the university self-sufficient in terms of resources.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے زرعی پیداوار کے حصول، معیاری بیج کی فراہمی اور تحقیق کے فروغ کے لیے جامعہ کا 140ایکڑ بنجر رقبہ زیر کاشت لانے کا بڑا منصوبہ شروع کیا ہے۔ منصوبے کے تحت غیر روایتی طرز کاشت کاری کے ذریعے سبزیوں، پھلوں اور جڑی بوٹیوں کا پیداری عمل مختلف مراحل میں ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے شعبہ باغبانی نے اپنی نوعیت کے منفرد منصوبے کے آزمائشی مرحلے میں نہ صرف25ایکڑ بنجر رقبے کو قابل کاشت بنایا ہے بلکہ 19اقسام کی سبزیاں، 12اقسام کے آرائشی پھول اور موسمیاتی پھلوں کی کاشت کا باقاعدہ آغاز بھی کر دیا ہے۔ اعلیٰ معیار کے حامل بیجوں پر مشتمل فصلوں کی کاشتکاری کے عمل میں مائیکرو آپاشی کا نظام متعارف کر کے پانی اور خرچے کی بچت کو یقینی بنایا گیا ہے۔ آزمائشی رقبے میں غذائیت سے بھرپور ایکسپورٹ کوالٹی کے ترش آور پھل تیار ہو چکے ہیں جبکہ کھجور مشروم دیگر پھل، کئی اقسام کے آرائشی پھول اور ہربل ادویات میں استعمال ہونے والی جڑی بوٹیوں کی تیاری ابتدائی مراحل میں ہے۔کٹ فلاور ویجیٹیبل ایگزیٹو سپائسز ہیں، ان کی اس ریجن کے اندر موافقت ہے اس پر کام کیا جا رہا ہے تاکہ یہاں یہ وہ والے سپائس اور ویجیٹیبل کی پیدوار کی جائے جو مہنگے داموں یا تو امپورٹ کرنے پڑتے ہیں اور دوسسرا یہاں سے وہ پیدوار جب ایکسپورٹ ہو گی تو نہ صرف ریجن کی اکانومی بلکہ پاکستان کی معیشت کو بھی فائدہ ہوگا۔ سال بھر کے دوران سبزیوں کی تیاری کے عمل میں غیر روایتی طریقہ کاشت کو اپنایا گیا ہے اس طریقے میں کنٹرول درجہ حرارت کے تحت ٹنو فارمنگ کے ذریعے آلو، پیاز، کھیرا، ٹماٹر، مٹر، مرچ، بینگن، کدو اور سلاد کی فصلیں تیاری کے مختلف مراحل میں ہیں۔ ہم اپنے طالب علموں کو بہتر طریقے اور اپ گریڈڈ سیٹ اپ میں ٹرین کر سکے تاکہ جب وہ یہاں سے گریجویٹ ہو جاتے ہیں تو اس کے بعد پورے ملک میں جا کے ایک اچھی پروڈیوس کے طور پر ہماری نمائندگی کریں اور اپنے آپ کو اور ملک کے لیے کام کریں۔ جامعیاتی سطح پر اس طرز کی کاشت کاری سے مقامی کسانوں کو جدید زرعی تقاضوں سے ہم ا ٓہنگ کرنے میں مدد مل رہی ہے۔ زرعی ترقی کے لیے دوررس نتائج کے حامل اس منصوبے کے دو بڑے فائدے ہیں کہ ملکی سطح پر تربیت یافتہ افراد قوت فرام کرنا اور وسائل کے اعتبار سے جامعہ کو خود کفیل بنانا ہے۔
