IUB organized a one-day international seminar titled "Translations of the Arabic Qur'an and Contemporary Needs"

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Department of Translation Studies and Department of Religions, Scholars and Interfaith Harmony, organized a one-day international seminar titled "Translations of the Arabic Qur'an and Contemporary Needs" at Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus under the Faculty of Islamic Learning. The seminar was presided over by Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. Professor Dr. Saleem Tariq Khan, former Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was the guest of honor, while renowned American economist and Quran translator and commentator Dr. Badar Hashmi delivered the online keynote address, university teachers, MPhil and PhD scholars also participated in large numbers. Dean Faculty of Islamic Learning Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rahman thanked the distinguished guests and taught at BS level under the supervision of Dr. Zohaib Ahmed. Former Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof Dr. Saleem Tariq Khan paid tribute to Engr Prof Dr. Athar Mahboob and Prof Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rehman and said that understanding the Qur'an is a basic need of the Muslim Ummah, which the Islamic nation of the beloved country is not aware of. Such programs strengthen our relationship with the Qur'an. Guest speaker Dr. Badar Hashmi said in an online address from America that the need to translate the Qur'an into English language was felt because all the previous translations were difficult languages. Secondly, the need for it arose because the common teachings of Muslims and other believers of the Abrahamic religion in the translation and interpretation are also mentioned in the context of the former Sahaf Samawiya, so that Europe and America may the preaching of Islam be easy. He said that after 9/11, propaganda against Islam and Quran was done in Europe and America. However, those affected by this propaganda also become Muslims when they study the translations of the miraculous book Quran. Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr Prof Dr. Athar Mahboob said in his presidential address that America's renowned economist Badar Hashmi has been permanently residing in North America for the past four decades. He belongs to Bahawalpur, got his primary education from Bahawalpur, joined civil service, been associated with big institutions like World Bank and as an economist, spent a long time in America but don't forget his roots, Islam and the land of Bahawalpur. Many of his publications have come to light, in which he has especially given credit to the two major universities of South Punjab, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan.

 اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور، شعبہ ٹرانسلیشن اسٹڈیز اور شعبہ ادیان عالم و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کے زیر انتظام، گھوٹوی ہال میں ایک روزہ انٹرنیشنل سیمینار بعنوان”قرآنِ عربی کے تراجم اور عصر حاضر کے تقاضے،“ ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک لرننگ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن کے زیرِ نگرانی منعقد ہوا۔ سیمینار کی صدارت وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور، انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سلیم طارق خان، سابق وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی  بہاولپور بطور مہمان خصوصی شریک تھے، جبکہ امریکہ کے معروف ماہر معاشیات اور مترجم و مفسر قرآن ڈاکٹر بدر ہاشمی نے آن لائن کلیدی خطاب کیا، یونیورسٹی اساتذہ، ایم فل اور پی ایچ ڈی اسکالرز اور عمائدین شہر نے بھی کثیر تعداد میں شرکت کی۔ سیمینار میں نظامت کے فرائض شعبہ ادیان عالم و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی سے ڈاکٹر زوہیب احمد نے سرانجام دیئے۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک لرننگ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن نے معزز مہمانوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور ڈیپارٹمنٹ کے زیرِ نگرانی بی ایس لیول پر پڑھایا جانے والا کورس ”عربی برائے فہم قرآن“ کے بارے میں معزز مہمانوں اور دیگر شرکاء کو آگاہ کیا۔ سابق وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سلیم طارق خان نے انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ قرآن فہمی امت مسلمہ کی ایک بنیادی ضرورت ہے جس سے وطنِ عزیز کی ملت اسلامیہ خود بخوبی آگاہ نہیں ہے۔ اس طرح کے پروگرام قرآن سے ہمارا تعلق کو مضبوط بناتے ہیں۔ مہمان مقرر ڈاکٹر بدر ہاشمی نے امریکہ سے آن لائن خطاب میں بتایا کہ انگریزی زبان میں ترجمہ قرآن کی ضرورت اس لیے محسوس ہوئی کہ اس سے قبل جتنے بھی تراجم موجود تھے وہ مشکل زبان میں تھے اورعصر حاضر کے تقاضوں کے مطابق نہ تھے۔ دوسرا اسکی ضرورت اس لیے پیش آئی کیونکہ ترجمہ و تفسیر میں مسلمانوں اور دین ابراہیمی کے دیگر ماننے والوں کی مشترک تعلیمات کا بھی سابق صحف سماویہ کے تناظر میں ذکر موجود ہو، تاکہ یورپ و امریکہ میں تبلیغ اسلام میں آسانی ہو۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نائن الیون کے بعد یورپ و امریکہ میں اسلام اور قرآن کے خلاف پروپیگنڈا کیا گیا۔ تاہم اس پروپیگنڈا سے متاثر ہونے والے بھی جب معجزاتی کتاب قرآن کے تراجم کا مطالعہ کرتے ہیں تو وہ مسلمان ہوجاتے ہیں۔ وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور، انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے صدارتی خطاب میں کہا کہ امریکہ کے معروف ماہر معاشیات بدر ہاشمی گزشتہ چار دہائیوں سے مستقل طور پر شمالی امریکہ میں رہائش پذیر ہیں۔ آپ کا تعلق بہاولپور سے ہے، ابتدائی تعلیم بہاولپور سے حاصل کی، سول سروس جوائن کی، ورلڈ بینک جیسے بڑے اداروں سے منسلک رہے اور بطور ماہر معاشیات، امریکہ میں ایک طویل وقت گزارا لیکن اپنی بنیادوں، اسلام اور بہاولپور کی دھرتی سے محبت نہیں بھولے۔ ان کی بہت سی پبلی کیشنز منظر عام پر آچکی ہیں جن میں انہوں نے خاص طور پر جنوبی پنجاب کی دو بڑی یونیورسٹیوں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور اور بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان کو کریڈٹ دیا ہے۔ پروگرام کے اختتام پر مہمانان گرامی کو یادگاری شیلڈز پیش کی گئیں۔
