IUB Organized a Webinar On the Current Situation in Afghanistan, Pak-US Relations

Under the auspices of the Department of Media Studies, a webinar was organized at Islamia University, Bahawalpur on the current situation in Afghanistan, Pak-US relations and the possible withdrawal of NAT0 forces from Afghanistan in the future. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that we have not learned anything from history. On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Kamran Bukhari, an international observer, said that Pakistan must now emerge from a state of uncertainty. Now is the time to correct the mistakes of the past. We must work for peace in Afghanistan. On the occasion, Maj. Gen. (retd) Ijaz Awan outlined the history of Pakistan-US relations and said that Afghanistan's problems should be in the hands of lazy Afghans and now Pakistan has to look after its national interests in any case. World-renowned Professor Dr. Adil Najam said that now Pakistan should not make its relations with the United States conditional on any other country. Pakistan should increase trade and other issues with the United States and other countries. Prof. Dr. Huma Bakai, said that the civil war has started in Afghanistan. Pakistan must maintain a neutral policy to avoid serious problems and put national interests first. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, said that the region was once again going through a critical period and we could no longer afford another war. After that the Chairman Department of Media Studies Islamia University Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Abdul Wajid Khan thanked all the guest participants and students, teachers and citizens who participated in the webinar. Associate Lecturer Media Studies Hanan Khan Tareen hosted the webinar. The webinar was attended by a large number of students, teachers and citizens through internet while Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Paracha, Assistant Prof. Dr. Syed Owais Gillani, Associate Lecturer Mohammad Bilal Bhatti, Muhammad Raza Majid and Tayyaba Latif and other faculty members were present on behalf of the Department of Media Studies.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف میڈیاسٹڈیز کے زیراہتمام افغانستان کی حالیہ صورتحال کے تناظر میں پاک امریکہ تعلقات اور مستقبل میں افغانستان سے NAT0فورسز کے انخلاء کے نتیجے میں پیدا ہونے والی ممکنہ صورتحال کے حوالے سے ویبینار کا انعقاد کیاگیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کہا کہ ہم نے تاریخ سے کچھ نہیں سیکھا ہمیں مستقبل کو محفوظ بنانے کے لیے اب ملکی سلامتی کو دیکھتے ہوئے فیصلے کرنا ہوں گے۔ انہوں نے چیئرمین ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف میڈیا سٹڈیز ڈاکٹرعبدالواجد خان کومسلسل کامیاب و یینارز منعقد کروانے پر خراج تحسین پیش کیا۔ اس موقع پر بین الا قوامی مبصر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر کامران بخاری نے کہا کہ پاکستان کو اب بے یقینی کی کیفیت سے نکلنا ہوگا۔ اب ماضی کی غلطیوں کو درست کرنے کا موقع ہے ہمیں افغانستان میں قیام امن کے لیے کوشاں رہنا ہو گا۔ اس موقع پرمیجر جنرل (ر)اعجاز اعوان نے پاکستان اور امریکی تعلقات بارے تاریخ کی منظرکشی کی اور کہا کہ افغانستان کے مسائل کاحل افغان باشندوں کے ہاتھوں میں ہی ہونا چاہئے اور اب پاکستان کو ہر صورت اپنے قومی مفادات کو دیکھنا ہوگاتاکہ اس موقع پربھی سابقہ غلطی نہ دہرائی جا سکے۔ عالمی شہرت یافتہ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عادل نجم نے کہا کہ اب پاکستان کو امریکہ سے تعلقات کسی دوسرے ملک سے مشروط نہیں رکھنے چاہئیں۔ پاکستان کو امریکہ و دیگر ممالک کے ساتھ تجارت و دیگر معاملات بڑھانے چاہیئں۔ اس موقع پر مہمان شرکاء میں شامل پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ہماء بقائی نے کہا کہ افغانستان میں خانہ جنگی کا آغاز ہو چکا ہے۔ پاکستان کوسنگین مسائل سے بچنے کے لیے نیوٹرل پالیسی قائم رکھنا ہوگی اورملکی مفادات کو سب سے پہلے کا ہوگا۔ اس کے بعد اختتامیہ الفاظ میں ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے کہا کہ خطہ ایک بار پھر نازک دور سے گزر رہا ہے اب ہم مزید کسی جنگ کے متحمل نہیں ہوسکتے۔ اس کے بعد چیئر مین ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف میڈیا سٹڈیز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالواجد خان نے تمام مہمان شرکا ء اور ویبینار میں شریک ہونے والے طلباء،اساتذہ اور شہریوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ اس ویبینار میں ایسوسی ایٹ لیکچرر میڈیاسٹڈیزحنان خان ترین نے بطورمیزبان ذمہ داریاں سرانجام دیں۔ ویبینار میں انٹرنیٹ کے ذریعے طلباء، اساتذہ اور شہریوں کی بڑی تعداد نے شرکت کی جبکہ ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف میڈیاسٹڈیز کی جانب سے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سجاداحمد پراچہ،اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سید اویس گیلانی،ایسوسی ایٹ لیکچرمحمد بلال بھٹی،محمدرضاماجد اورطیبہ لطیف ودیگرفیکلٹی ممبران موجود تھے۔
