IUB organized an awareness seminar on breast cancer for female students, faculty members and officers

Directorate of Women Health Care and Maternity Home, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized an awareness seminar on breast cancer for female students, faculty members and officers. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences. In her address, she said that October is generally considered as a month of breast cancer awareness, and it's an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. We can educate our female students and employees who can spread the message in the community and protect our loved ones. Dr. Sheikh Safeena Sidiq, Director Women Health Care and Maternity Home, welcomed the guest speakers, students, and faculty members. In her address, she talked about the services and the facilities of Women Health Care and Maternity Home. Dr. Farhat-ul-Ann Tayyaba, Assistant Professor and Dr. Fatima Arshad, Breast and General Surgeon, Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital, delivered a lecture on breast cancer awareness. They said that Pakistan has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia. An estimate of 1 in 9 women may develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is increasing in the age group of 30 to 40 years and is behaving very aggressively. According to new estimates, 83,000 cases are being reported annually, and 40,000 deaths are being reported in Pakistan. Early detection and consultation to the doctor can save life. Dr. Samina Ejaz, Associate Professor and Additional Director Women Health Care and Maternity Home, delivered a vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Nargis Naz, Chairperson Department of Botany, Dr. Zarmina and Dr. Sheema Sadia Medical Officers, Fatima Muzahir Deputy Registrar Public Affairs, and a large number of female faculty members, officers, staff, and students attended the seminar.

بہاول پور (پ ر) ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف وومن ہیلتھ کیئر اینڈ میٹرنٹی ہوم، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپورکے زیر اہتمام طالبات، فیکلٹی ممبران اور افسران کے لیے چھاتی کے سرطان سے متعلق آگاہی سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا۔ سیمینار کی صدارت پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم، ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیولوجیکل سائنسز نے کی۔ اپنے خطاب میں انہوں نے کہا کہ اکتوبر کو عام طور پر چھاتی کے کینسر سے متعلق آگاہی کا مہینہ سمجھا جاتا ہے اور یہ علامات اور علاج کے بارے میں تعلیم کے ذریعے آگاہی پیدا کرنے اور چھاتی کے کینسر کے مرض کو کم کرنے کی کوشش ہے۔ ہم اپنی طالبات اور ملازمین کو آگاہی دے سکتے ہیں جو کمیونٹی میں پیغام پھیلا سکیں اور اپنے پیاروں کی حفاظت کر سکیں۔ ڈاکٹر شیخ سفینہ صدیق، ڈائریکٹر وومن ہیلتھ کیئر اینڈ میٹرنٹی ہوم نے مہمان مقررین، طلباء اور فیکلٹی ممبران کا خیر مقدم کیا۔ اپنے خطاب میں انہوں نے خواتین کی صحت کی دیکھ بھال اور میٹرنٹی ہوم کی خدمات اور سہولیات کے بارے آگاہ کیا۔ ڈاکٹر فرحت العن طیبہ، اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر اور ڈاکٹر فاطمہ ارشد، بریسٹ اینڈ جنرل سرجن، بہاولپور وکٹوریہ ہسپتال نے چھاتی کے سرطان سے متعلق آگاہی لیکچر دیا۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان میں چھاتی کے کینسر کے کیسز ایشیا میں سب سے زیادہ ہیں۔ ایک اندازے کے مطابق 9 میں سے 1 خواتین اپنی زندگی میں چھاتی کا کینسر پیدا کر سکتی ہیں۔ 30 سے 40 سال کی عمر کے لوگوں میں چھاتی کا کینسر بڑھ رہا ہے اور بہت خطرناک صورت اختیار کر رہا ہے۔ نئے اندازوں کے مطابق پاکستان میں سالانہ 83,000 کیسز رپورٹ ہو رہے ہیں اور 40,000 اموات ہو رہی ہیں۔ اس مرض کی جلد تشخیص اور ڈاکٹر کیمشورے سے زندگی بچائی جا سکتی  ہے۔ ڈاکٹر ثمینہ اعجاز، ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر اور ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر وومن ہیلتھ کیئر اینڈ میٹرنٹی ہوم نے تمام مہمانوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ سیمینار میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نرگس ناز، چیئرپرسن ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف باٹنی، ڈاکٹر زرمینہ اور ڈاکٹر شیما سعدیہ میڈیکل آفیسر، فاطمہ مظاہر ڈپٹی رجسٹرار پبلک افیئرز، خواتین فیکلٹی ممبران، افسران، اور طالبات کی بڑی تعداد نے شرکت کی۔
