Meeting of Vice Chancellor IUB and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Agriculture

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Agriculture Jamshed Iqbal Cheema has said that the present government is taking extra-ordinary steps for agricultural development and prosperity of farmers. Universities have a key role to play in agricultural research which has a pivotal role in increasing productivity and improving the agricultural economy. The achievements of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in agricultural research are commendable to other universities. The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister made the remarks during a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob at his office today. He said that the cooperation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the Chinese University in the field of cotton research and intercropping is a significant step. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob briefed him about the ongoing agricultural research project at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, cotton research, supply of cotton seeds in the market and cultivation of maize and soybean in intercropping technology. He also briefed the Special Assistant on the project of cut flowers, vegetables and fruits projects. He said that the agricultural research of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is known all over the country that is why Chinese universities have also made progress for joint projects with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. On the occasion, Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan also joined the meeting and appreciated the agricultural research of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Dr. Muhammad Ali Raza, a post-doctoral student from the University of China, said that intercropping technology is a new experiment in Pakistan, which is a major step forward in increasing food shortages in Pakistan, especially in increasing edible oil production.

وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی برائے زراعت جمشید اقبال چیمہ نے کہاہے کہ موجودہ حکومت زرعی ترقی اور کسانوں کی خوشحالی کے لیے مثالی اقدامات کر رہی ہے۔ زرعی تحقیق میں یونیورسٹیوں کا کلیدی کردار ہے جو پیداوار بڑھانے اور زرعی معیشت کی بہتری کے لیے بنیادی کردار کی حامل ہیں۔زرعی تحقیق میں  اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی کامیابیاں دوسری جامعات کے لیے قابل تعریف ہیں۔ وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی نے اس بات کا اظہار وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب سے آج اپنے دفتر میں ایک ملاقات کے موقع پر کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی کاٹن میں ہونے والی ریسرچ اور انٹرکراپنگ  کے سلسلے میں چینی یونیورسٹی سے تعاون ایک خوش آئند بات ہے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے انہیں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں جاری زرعی تحقیقی منصوبے کپاس کی تحقیق، کپاس کے بیجوں کی مارکیٹ میں فراہمی اور انٹراکراپنگ ٹیکنالوجی میں مکئی اور سویابین کی کاشت سے متعلق آگاہ کیا۔ اس کے علاوہ انہوں نے معاون خصوصی کو کٹ فلاور، سبزیوں او رپھلوں کے پروجیکٹ سے متعلق بھی آگاہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی زرعی تحقیق پورے ملک اور عالمی سطح پر جانی جاتی ہے یہی وجہ ہے کہ چین کی یونیورسٹیوں نے بھی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے ساتھ مشترکہ منصوبوں کے لیے پیش رفت کی۔ اس موقع پر چیئرمین پاکستان ایگریکلچر ریسرچ کونسل ڈاکٹر محمد عظیم بھی میٹینگ میں شامل ہوگئے اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی زرعی تحقیق کوسراہا۔ چین کی یونیورسٹی سے پوسٹ ڈاکٹر کی ڈگری حاصل کرنے والے ڈاکٹر محمد علی رضا نے بتایا کہ انٹرکراپنگ ٹیکنالوجی پاکستان میں ایک نیا تجربہ ہے جس سے پاکستان میں خوراک کی بڑھتی ہوئی کمی خصوصا خوردنی تیل کی پیداوار میں اضافے کے لیے ایک بڑی پیش رفت ہے۔
