MoU signed between IUB and WWF

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature Pakistan to promote research activities and joint ventures. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Hammad Naqi Khan, Chief Executive Officer, World Wildlife Fund for Nature signed the agreement. The two institutes will conduct training programs and workshops to enhance the capacity of the personnel, especially faculty members and researchers. Joint research projects will be formulated and environmental awareness will be created among students and the general public. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandisha and Director Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi were present on the occasion. It is noteworthy that the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, which is active in 100 countries around the world, has been working with public and private institutions in Pakistan since 1970 for the efficient use of the environment and natural resources. On the other hand, Islamia University Bahawalpur Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies is working for the protection and survival of natural life, plants and animals in the desert. Biologists, forestry, water resources, agriculture, social workers and environmental activists from the two institutes will jointly carry out research activities.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور اور ورلڈ وائلڈ فنڈ فار نیچر پاکستان کے مابین تحقیقی سرگرمیوں کے فروغ اور مشترکہ منصوبوں کے لیے مفاہمتی یاداشت پر دستخط ہوئے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی جانب سے پرووا ئس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر اور ورلڈ وائلڈ فنڈفار نیچر کی جانب سے چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر حماد نقی خان نے دستخط کیے۔ دونوں ادارے افراد قوت خصوصا فیکلٹی ممبران اور محقیقین کی استعدادِکار میں اضافے کے لیے تربیتی پروگرام اورورکشاپ منعقد کریں گے۔مشترکہ تحقیقی منصوبے ترتیب دیے جائیں گے اور طلباء وطالبات اور عام لوگوں میں ماحولیات کے حوالے سے آگاہی پیدا کی جائے گی۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اقبال بندیشہ اور ڈائریکٹر چولستان انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ڈیزرٹ سٹڈیز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی موجود تھے۔ یہ بات قابل ذکر ہے کہ ورلڈ وائلڈ فنڈ فار نیچر جو دنیا کے 100ملکوں میں فعال ہے اور پاکستان میں 1970سے سرکاری اور نجی اداروں کے ساتھ ماحولیات اور قدرتی وسائل موثر استعمال کے لیے کام کر رہی ہے۔ دوسری جانب اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور چولستان انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ڈیزرٹ سٹڈیز کے ذریعے صحرا میں موجود قدرتی حیات، نباتات و حیوانات کے تحفظ اور بقاء کے لیے کام کر رہی ہے۔ دونوں اداروں کے ماہرین حیاتیات، جنگلات، آبی ذرائع، زراعت، سماجی کارکن اور ماحولیاتی تحفظ کے کارکن مل کر تحقیقی سرگرمیوں کو سرانجام دیں گے۔
