MoU signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Organic Pakistan Limited for the promotion of Urban Farming

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Organic Pakistan Limited for the promotion of Urban Farming. The agreement was signed by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Muhammad Nadeem Iqbal Chairman Organic Pakistan Limited on behalf of their institutions. The aim of the agreement is to grow locally fresh and affordable vegetables and fruits to address the challenge of food security. Both the institutes will take initiatives for farming in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Baghdad ud Jadeed campus which includes vegetables, honey and poultry feed. Both the institutions will work for the promotion of farming in Bahawalpur City and Cantonment Board as well. Both institutions will make efforts to attract teachers, students and common citizens to urban farming. Urban farming will ensure eco-friendly, chemical-free cultivation of vegetables and fruits. A Knowledge Center for Urban Farming will be established in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and special training programs will also be started in the university to increase the capacity of teachers and students. Both institutions will also organize international conferences in this regard in the future. اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور اور آرگینک پاکستان لمیٹڈ کے مابین اربن فارمنگ کے فروغ کے لیے مفاہمتی یادداشت پر دستخط ہوئے۔ معاہدے پر وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب اور محمد ندیم اقبال چیئرمین آرگینک پاکستان لمیٹڈ نے اپنے اداروں کی جانب سے دستخط کیے۔ معاہدے کا مقصد مقامی طور پر تازہ اور سستی سبزیوں اور پھلوں کی کاشت کرنا ہے تاکہ فوڈ سیکورٹی کے چیلنج سے نمٹا جائے۔ دونوں ادارے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور بغداد الجدید کیمپس میں فارمنگ کے لیے اقدامات کریں گے جن میں سبزیوں، شہد اور پولٹری فیڈ شامل ہے۔ دونوں ادارے بہاول پور شہر اور کنٹومنٹ بورڈ میں بھی فارمنگ کے فروغ کے لیے کام کریں گے۔ اساتذہ، طلباء وطالبات کے ساتھ ساتھ عام شہریوں کو بھی اربن فارمنگ کی جانب راغب کرنے کے لیے دونوں ادارے کوششیں کریں گے۔ اربن فارمنگ کے ذریعے ماحول دوست، کیمیکل سے پاک سبزیوں اور پھلوں کی کاشت کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں اربن فارمنگ کے لیے نالج سینٹر قائم کیا جائے گا اور یونیورسٹی میں اساتذہ اور طلباء وطالبات کی استعدادکار میں اضافے کے لیے خصوصی طور پر تربیتی پروگرام بھی شروع کیے جائیں گے۔ دونوں ادارے ملکر مستقبل میں اس حوالے سے انٹرنیشنل کانفرنسز بھی منعقد کریں گے۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی آف آرٹس اینڈ لینگوئجز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جاوید حسان چانڈیو، ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اسلم ملغانی، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس، سینڈیکیٹ ممبرڈاکٹر ثمر فہد، ڈاکٹر بشریٰ صدیق، ڈاکٹرجام سجاد حسین، چوہدری عزیر احمد اور علی ضمیر اسٹیشن مینجر اے پی پی شریک تھے۔
