The Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony strongly condemns the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden
Under the special direction of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, the Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony was established in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in order to maintain social and diplomatic relations with other religions and state institutions at the national and international levels. Better relations should be established with the minorities and self-made ideas like Islamophobia can be eradicated. In order to strongly condemn the act of burning the Quran on the day of Eid-ul-Adha in Sweden, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rahman, Dr. Shajila Kausar, Head Department of Word Religions and Interfaith Harmony, organized a peaceful walk with the aim of we had to register our protest against this heinous act on international forums. The special rally started from Abbasia campus. On this occasion, while representing Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies said that we as Muslims and institutions strongly condemn such incidents. Dr. Shajila Kausar said that Islam can undoubtedly be called the architect of knowledge and the Holy Quran the guarantor of peace. Desecration of religious books, whether they belong to any religion, is prohibited in Islamic Sharia. Other religious communities including Christians, Hindus and Sikh should also come forward and strongly condemn this incident. Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Registrar the Islamia University of Bahawalpur also termed the incident as sad and said that it is against the freedom of expression act to allow this kind of practice. Therefore, this illegal decision of the Sweden court should be strongly condemned. Dr. Raheela Khalid Qureshi, Head Department of Arabic said that Islam has always protected the rights of minorities. Islamic Sharia allows all minorities to perform their religious rituals. Therefore, when such incidents happen on the part of the people of the West, there is a wave of anger in all Islamic societies. On this occasion, Rizwan Majeed, the treasurer of the university, said that Islam teaches humanity. The incident of burning the Holy Quran in Sweden on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha is a heartbreaking act that cannot be condemned as much as it is. In this special walk, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Imran, President of the Department of Islamic Studies, Dr. Zia ur Rehman Head Department of Quranic Studies, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Head Department of Jurisprudence and Shariah, Dr. Waqar Aslam Head Department of Information Security, Gibran Jamshed Head Department of Law, Dr. Ariba Khan Head Department of Islamic Banking and Finance, Dr. Syed Javed Iqbal, Head Department of Leadership Management, Quranic Students Club, teachers, students, administrative officers and employees of other departments of the university were also involved.

انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی خصوصی ہدایت پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں شعبہ ادیان عالم و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کا قیام اس لیے عمل میں لایا گیا تھا کہ قومی اور بین الاقوامی سطح پر دیگر اہلیان مذاہب اور ریاستی اداروں سے سماجی و سفارتی تعلقات کو بہتر کیا جائے، اقلیتوں کے ساتھ خوشگوار تعلقات کا قیام عمل میں لایا جائے اور اسلاموفوبیا جیسے خود ساختہ نظریات کا قلع قمع ہو سکے۔ سویڈن میں عید الاضحی کے روز قرآن مجید جلائے جانے کے عمل کی بھرپور مذمت کرنے کے لیے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن کی سربراہی میں ڈاکٹر سجیلہ کوثر، صدر شعبہ ادیان عالم وبین المذاہب ہم آہنگی نے ایک پر امن واک کا اہتمام کیا جس کا مقصد بین الاقوامی فورمز پر اس مذموم عمل کے خلاف اپنا احتجاج ریکارڈ کروانا تھا۔ خصوصی ریلی عباسیہ کیمپس سے شروع ہوئی اور دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے یونیورسٹی ملازمین اور طلبہ کی ایک کثیر تعداد اس کا حصہ بن گئی۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر دی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی نمائندگی کرتے ہوئے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن، ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عربی اسٹڈیز کا کہنا تھا کہ ہم بطور مسلمان اور ادارہ ایسے واقعات کی بھر پور مذمت کرتے ہیں۔ ڈاکٹر سجیلہ کوثر کا یہ کہنا تھا کہ اسلام کو بلاشبہ معمار عالم اور قرآن مجید کو امن کا ضامن کہا جا سکتا ہے۔ دینی کتب چاہے وہ کسی بھی مذہب یا دین کی ہوں کی بے حرمتی شریعت اسلامی میں ممنوع ہے۔ دیگر مذہبی جماعتوں بشمول عیسائی، ہندو اور سکھ برادری کو بھی سامنے آکر اس واقعے کی بھرپور مذمت کرنی چاہیے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، رجسٹرار اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے بھی اس واقعے کو افسوسناک قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ آزادی اظہار رائے کے قانون کے بھی منافی ہے کہ اس قسم کے عمل کی اجازت دی جائے۔ لہذا سویڈن کی عدالت کے اس غیر قانونی فیصلے کی بھرپور مذمت کی جانی چاہیے۔ صدر شعبہ عربی، ڈاکٹر راحیلہ خالد قریشی کا کہنا تھا کہ اسلام نے ہمیشہ اقلیتوں کے حقوق کی حفاظت کی ہے۔ شریعت اسلامی تمام اقلیتوں کو اپنی مذہبی عبادات کی ادائیگی کی اجازت دیتی ہے۔ اس لیے اہل مغرب کی جانب سے جب ایسے واقعات ہوتے ہیں تو تمام اسلامی معاشروں میں غم وغصے کی لہر دوڑ جاتی ہے۔ اس موقع پر یونیورسٹی کے خزانہ دار رضوان مجید کا کہنا تھا کہ اسلام انسانیت کا درس دیتا ہے۔ عید الاضحی کے موقع پر سویڈن میں قرآن مجید جلائے جانے کا واقعہ ایک دل خراش عمل ہے جس کی جتنی بھی مذمت کی جائے کم ہے۔ اس خصوصی واک میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد امجد، ڈین فیکلٹی آف انجینئرنگ، ڈاکٹر محمد عمران صدر شعبہ اسلامیات، ڈاکٹر ضیاء الرحمن صدر شعبہ قرآنک اسٹڈیز،  ڈاکٹر عبد الغفار صدر شعبہ فقہ و شریعہ، ڈاکٹر وقار اسلم صدر شعبہ انفارمیشن سیکورٹی، جبران جمشید صدر شعبہ قانون، ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان صدر شعبہ اسلامک بینکنگ اینڈ فنانس، ڈاکٹر سید جاوید اقبال، صدر شعبہ لیڈرشپ مینجمنٹ، قرآنک اسٹوڈنٹس کلب، شعبہ قرآنک اسٹڈیز، یونیورسٹی کے دیگر شعبہ جات کے اساتذہ، طلباء، انتظامی افسران اور ملازمین بھی شامل تھے۔
