On the occasion of World Soil Day (Soil and Water: a source of life), a special event was organized at the Department of Soil Science, Institute of Soil and Water Resource, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Dean Faculty of Agriculture & Environment Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turrabi, Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Director National Cotton Breeding Institute Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Chairman Department of Soil Science, Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad, Chairman Department of Horticulture, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees, Chairman Department of Plant Pathology Prof. Dr. Naveed Aslam Malghani, Chairman Department of Agronomy Prof. Dr. Aown Sammar Raza were present on the occasion. Dr. Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil said that World Soil Day is celebrated on December 5 to raise awareness about the importance of soil for the survival of life on earth. Soil quality is declining which is causing environmental problems. This day is celebrated to draw people's attention to healthy soil. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, said that the theme of this year was Soil and Water: a source of life. The purpose of this day is to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and to educate for the sustainable management of soil resources. Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad said that all the Faculty members and students were participated in the awareness walk. Faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.

مٹی اور پانی کے عالمی دن (مٹی اور پانی: زندگی کا ایک ذریعہ) کے موقع پر شعبہ سوائل سائنس، انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف سوائل اینڈ واٹر ریسورس، فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں ایک خصوصی تقریب کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرنمنٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی، رجسٹرار پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، ڈائریکٹر نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اقبال، چئیرمین شعبہ سوائل سائنس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مکشوف احمد، چیئرمین شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس، چیئرمین ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف پلانٹ پیتھالوجی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اسلم ملغانی، چیئرمین شعبہ ایگرانومی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عون ثمر رضا بھی موجود تھے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل نے کہا کہ مٹی کا عالمی دن 5 دسمبر کو منایا جاتا ہے تاکہ زمین پر زندگی کی بقا کے لیے مٹی کی اہمیت کے بارے میں شعور اجاگر کیا جا سکے۔ مٹی کا معیار گر رہا ہے جس سے ماحولیاتی مسائل پیدا ہورہے ہیں۔ یہ دن صحت مند مٹی کی طرف لوگوں کی توجہ مبذول کرانے کے لیے منایا جاتا ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی، ڈین، فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر نے کہا کہ اس سال کا تھیم مٹی اور پانی: زندگی کا ایک ذریعہ ہے۔ اس دن کا مقصد صحت مند مٹی کی اہمیت پر توجہ مرکوز کرنا اور مٹی کے وسائل کے پائیدار انتظام کے لیے تعلیم دینا ہے۔  پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مکشوف احمد نے کہا کہ آگاہی واک میں تمام فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء نے شرکت کی۔ اس موقع پر فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء و طالبات بھی موجود تھے۔
