One day training workshop on copyright and trademark for faculty members of IUB

In a proactive initiative to foster a culture of intellectual property awareness, the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a one-day training workshop on Copyright and Trademark for the faculty members of Faculty of Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts & Design, Education and Islamic Learning. The event aimed to equip faculty members with a profound understanding of Copyright and Trademark principles, providing them with the tools to navigate the intricate landscape of intellectual property rights. The workshop brought together a diverse group of faculty members from various departments, creating an interactive platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning. Mr. Abdul Moeed Abid, Additional Director, ORIC welcomed all the participants of the session and paid a myriad thanks to the Guest Speakr, Dr. Owais Hassan Shaikh, Principal Consultant, Hassan Shaikh and Company for his valuable time. In the welcome note, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC, expressed enthusiasm about the workshop's success, stating, "Our goal is to empower our faculty members with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of intellectual property. By fostering a culture of respect for copyright and understanding the value of IP protection, we aim to create an environment that encourages innovation and ensures the proper recognition and safeguarding of our researchers' contributions." He, further, elaborated the IUB Intellectual Property Policy and its various sections to the audience. Dr. Owais Hassan Shaikh, the Trainer, delivered a comprehensive lecture on the nuances of IP protection, and how these mechanisms can safeguard the university's and individual researchers' innovations. The participants gained valuable insights into the process of securing copyright protection for their innovative works, ensuring that their research outputs are appropriately acknowledged and legally shielded. During the session, the focus was not only the lecture delivery but on the application process as well, from initial ideation to successful filing. Practical examples and case studies were presented to elucidate the real-world implications of Intellectual Property Rights, empowering the attendees to make informed decisions regarding the protection of their inventive endeavors. In the closing remarks, Director ORIC expressed his interest to continue organizing such initiatives, reinforcing the university's commitment to promoting a culture of innovation, research excellence, and responsible intellectual property management.

آفس آف ریسرچ، انوویشن، اینڈ کمرشلائزیشن اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے فیکلٹی آف مینجمنٹ سائنسز، سوشل سائنسز، آرٹس اور ڈیزائن، ایجوکیشن اینڈ اسلامک لرننگ کے فیکلٹی ممبران کے لیے کاپی رائٹ اور ٹریڈ مارک پر ایک روزہ تربیتی ورکشاپ کا انعقاد کیا۔ اس تقریب کا مقصد فیکلٹی ممبران کو کاپی رائٹ اور ٹریڈ مارک کے اصولوں کی گہری سمجھ سے آراستہ کرنا تھا، انہیں انٹلیکچوئل املاک کے حقوق کے پیچیدہ منظر نامے کے لیے ٹولز فراہم کرنا تھا۔ ورکشاپ نے مختلف شعبوں سے فیکلٹی ممبران کو ایک جگہ پر اکٹھا کیا تاکہ باہمی تعاون کے ساتھ سیکھنے کے لیے ایک انٹرایکٹو پلیٹ فارم مہیا ہو۔ عبدالمعید عابد، ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر اورک نے سیشن کے تمام شرکاء کا خیرمقدم کیا اور مہمان مقرر ڈاکٹر اویس حسن شیخ، پرنسپل کنسلٹنٹ، حسن شیخ اینڈ کمپنی کا اپنے قیمتی وقت کے لیے تہہ دل سے شکریہ ادا کیا۔ صدارتی خطاب میں ڈائریکٹر اورک پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد عاطف نے ورکشاپ کی کامیابی کے بارے میں جوش و خروش کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہمارا مقصد اپنے فیکلٹی ممبران کو علم اور آلات کے ساتھ بااختیار بنانا ہے تاکہ دانشورانہ املاک کی پیچیدگیوں کو نیویگیٹ کرسکیں۔ ثقافت کو فروغ دے کر کاپی رائٹ کے احترام اور آئی پی تحفظ کی قدر کو سمجھنے کے لیے ایسا ماحول بنانا ہے جو اختراع کی حوصلہ افزائی کرے اور ہمارے محققین کے تعاون کی مناسب پہچان اور حفاظت کو یقینی بنائے۔ انہوں نے مزید اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انٹلیکچوئل پراپرٹی پالیسی اور اس کے مختلف حصوں کو سامعین کے سامنے بیان کیا۔ ڈاکٹر اویس حسن شیخ، ٹرینر، نے آئی پی  تحفظ کی باریکیوں پر ایک جامع لیکچر دیا اور یہ طریقہ کار یونیورسٹی اور انفرادی محققین کی اختراعات کی حفاظت کیسے کر سکتا ہے۔ شرکاء نے اپنے اختراعی کاموں کے لیے کاپی رائٹ کے تحفظ کو حاصل کرنے کے عمل کے بارے میں قابل قدر بصیرت حاصل کی، اس بات کو یقینی بناتے ہوئے کہ ان کے تحقیقی نتائج کو مناسب طور پر تسلیم کیا جائے اور قانونی طور پر تحفظ فراہم کیا جائے۔ انٹلیکچوئل پراپرٹی رائٹس کے حقیقی دنیا کے مضمرات کو واضح کرنے کے لیے عملی مثالیں اور کیس اسٹڈیز پیش کی گئیں، جس سے شرکاء کو ان کی اختراعی کوششوں کے تحفظ کے حوالے سے باخبر فیصلے کرنے کا اختیار دیا گیا۔ اختتامی کلمات میں ڈائریکٹر اورک نے اس طرح کے اقدامات کا انعقاد اور سرپرستی پر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس طرح کی سرگرمی سے یونیورسٹی کے جدت، تحقیقی فضیلت اور ذمہ دارانہ املاک دانش کے انتظام کے کلچر کو فروغ دینے کے عزم کو تقویت ملے گی۔
