Opening Session - 8th International Horticulture Conference & Horti Expo South Punjab (IHCE-2024)

Bahawalpur () A two-day conference organized by Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Pakistan Society of Horticulture Sciences began today at the main auditorium of Baghdad ul-Jadeed Campus. Delegates from different universities and institutions of Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan are participating in the conference. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed Rajwana, Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan, Prof. Dr. Amanullah Malik University of Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Taqi Demir Dean Faculty of Agriculture Sakarya University of Applied Science Turkey delivered the keynote speeches. Former Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil and Kainat Raza Director Shamim Group were present on this occasion. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar in his presidential address said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is among the top 1000 universities in the world and has a unique position in teaching and research. Agricultural research conducted at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is taking steps to improve the national agricultural economy as well as training and prosperity of the farming community. Agricultural scientists of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are playing a prominent role in the promotion of modern agriculture. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, said that the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment has produced eminent scientists who are performing outstanding services in the public and private sector research institutions of Pakistan. Faculty of Agriculture and Environment consists of 10 departments where highly qualified teachers are providing teaching and practical training in modern laboratories. The focal person of the conference Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees said that the Department of Horticulture is promoting research in high and ultra-high density orchards, drip irrigation system, hydroponic horticulture, Fruit and ornamental plant nurseries, oil-producing plants, high-yield green production, fruits and vegetables are promoting production and innovative research. The department is also working on plantation and landscaping besides maintaining the gardens in modern ways and securing the agricultural production with modern technology. Similarly, in view of scarcity of water, drip irrigation and sprinkler systems are also being worked on. Our scientists are also doing research on plant tissue culture, horticulture biotechnology, mushroom production, fruits and vegetable packaging. On the first day, four technical sessions were held which were presided over by Prof. Dr. Amanullah Malik University of Faisalabad, Dr. Ahmed Sattar Khan Agricultural University Faisalabad, Dr. Muhammad Jaffer Jaskani Agricultural University Faisalabad and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf University of Sargodha respectively. As many as 32 research papers were presented on this occasion. In the evening, a poster making competition was organized by the Pakistan Society of Horticultural Sciences. Along with the conference, renowned horticulture institutes of Pakistan set up stalls of their products where a large number of teachers, researchers, students and common citizens were present.

بہاول پور () ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف ہارٹیکلچر فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائر منٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور اور پاکستان سوسائٹی آف ہارٹیکلچر سائنسز کے زیر اہتمام دو روزہ کانفرنس آج بغداد الجدید کیمپس کے مرکزی آڈیٹوریم میں شروع ہوگئی۔ کانفرنس میں ایران، مصر، ترکی، افغانستان اور پاکستان کی مختلف جامعات اور اداروں سے آئے ہوئے مندوبین شریک ہیں۔ افتتاحی سیشن کی صدارت پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے کی اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اشتیاق احمد رجوانہ وائس چانسلر محمد نواز شریف ایگریکلچر یونیورسٹی ملتان، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر امان اللہ ملک یونیورسٹی آف فیصل آباد، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تقی دیمیر ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچرساکریہ یونیورسٹی آف اپلائیڈ سائنس ترکی نے کلیدی خطاب کیے۔ اس موقع پر سابق رجسٹرار پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، کائنات رضا             ڈ ائریکٹر شمیم گروپ موجود تھے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر نے اپنے صدارتی خطاب میں کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور دنیا کی 1000 اولین جامعات میں شامل ہے اور تدریس و تحقیق میں منفرد مقام کی حامل ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں ہونے والی زرعی تحقیق سے قومی زرعی معیشت میں بہتری کے ساتھ ساتھ کسان کمیونٹی کی تربیت اور خوشحالی کے لیے بھی اقدامات کیے جا رہے ہیں۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے زرعی سائنسدان جدید زراعت کے فروغ میں نمایاں کردار ادا کر رہے ہیں۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ نے کہا کہ فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ نے نامور سائنسدان پیدا کیے ہیں جو پاکستان کے سرکاری اور نجی شعبے کے تحقیقی اداروں میں نمایاں خدمات سرانجام دے رہے ہیں۔ فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ 10 شعبہ جات پر مشتمل ہے جہاں پر اعلیٰ تعلیم یافتہ اساتذہ کرام جدید ترین لیبارٹریز میں تدریس اور عملی تربیت فراہم کر رہے ہیں۔ کانفرنس کے فوکل پرسن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس نے کہا کہ شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر ہائی اور الٹرا ہائی ڈینسٹی آرچرڈ، ڈرپ ایریگیشن سسٹم، ہائیڈر و پونک ہارٹیکلچر، پھلوں اور سجاوٹی پودوں کی نرسریوں، تیل پیدا کرنے والی نباتات، ہائی ییلڈ گرین پروڈکشن، پھلوں اور سبزیوں کی پیداوار اور جدید تحقیق کو فروغ دے رہا ہے۔ شعبے میں باغات کی جدید طریقوں سے دیکھ بھال اور زرعی پیداوار کو جدید ٹیکنالوجی سے محفوظ بنانے کے علاوہ پلانٹیشن اور لینڈ سکیپنگ پر بھی کام ہو رہا ہے۔ اسی طرح پانی کی کمیابی کے پیش نظر ڈرپ ایریگیشن اور سپرنکل سسٹم پر بھی کام ہو رہا ہے۔ ہمارے سائنسدان پلانٹ ٹشوکلچر، ہارٹیکلچر بائیو ٹیکنالوجی، مشروم پروڈکشن، ویجیٹیبل پیکجنگ پر بھی تحقیقی کام کررہے ہیں۔ پہلے روز 4 ٹیکنیکل سیشن منعقد ہوئے جن کی صدارت بلترتیب پروفیسر ڈاکٹر امان اللہ ملک یونیورسٹی آف فیصل آباد، ڈاکٹر احمد ستار خان زرعی یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد، ڈاکٹر محمد جعفر جسکانی زرعی یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اشرف یونیورسٹی آف سرگودھا نے کی۔ اس موقع پر 32 تحقیقی مقالات پیش کیے گئے۔ شام کو پوسٹر بنانے کے مقابلے منعقد ہوئے جن کا انعقاد پاکستان سوسائٹی آف ہارٹیکلچر سائنسز نے کیا تھا۔ کانفرنس کے ساتھ پاکستان کے نامور ہارٹیکلچر اداروں نے اپنی مصنوعات کے سٹالز لگائے جہاں اساتذہ، محققین، طلباء وطالبات اور عام شہریوں کی بڑی تعداد موجود تھی۔
