Orientation Session of Green Campus Programme held at IUB

As a part of the awareness campaign of the Green Campus programme for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, an orientation session for the faculty members was held in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Dr. Abid Rashid Gill, Coordinator/Director Green Campus Programme briefed the faculty about various aspects of the programme and highlighted the significance and importance of this programme for the university. He asked the faculty to cooperate in saving environmental resources while producing teaching and research. He thanked Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor for extending his full support to Green Campus: IUB programme. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean/Incharge Faculty of Social Science said that Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is continually making efforts to decrease the impact of the university on the environment by taking initiatives such as the plantation of trees, solar power plants, and the launch of the Green Campus Project.  She highlighted the need of having documented environmental policy for the university. She proposed that a campaign can be run in which an individual (a faculty member, or a student) should notify their Green Activities on the campus. While a second orientation session was held for the faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Aftab Hussain Gillani, Dean, Faculty of Law and faculty members assured their full support for the programme and offered their services to work on the legal aspects of the programme.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں گرین کیمپس پروگرام کے تحت فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسزاور فیکلٹی آف لاء میں تعارفی نشستوں کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل پروگرام کوارڈینیٹر نے جامعہ اسلامیہ میں گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ کے مختلف پہلوں سے آگاہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کے ویژن کے مطابق کیمپس میں قدرتی اور ماحولیاتی وسائل کے تحفظ اور مناسب ترین استعمال اور اس  سے متعلق تدریس و تحقیق کے فروغ کے لیے اس منصوبے کا آغاز کیا گیا ہے۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے کہاکہ وائس چانسلر نے جامعہ میں ماحولیات کے حوالے سے منصوبوں کی بہت حوصلہ افزائی کی ہے اور انہی کی توجہ کی بدولت شجر کاری مہم میں تیزی آئی اور تمام کیمپسز میں ہزاروں پودے لگائے گئے، 2.5میگا واٹ کا سولر پروجیکٹ تکمیل کے مراحل میں ہے اور گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ بھی اسی سلسلے کاحصہ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یونیورسٹی ماحولیات سے متعلق ایک پالیسی دستاویز بھی تشکیل دے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ گرین کیمپس سرگرمیوں میں تمام اساتذہ، طلباء وطالبات کو حصہ لینا چاہیے۔پروفیسرڈاکٹر آفتاب حسین گیلانی ڈین فیکلٹی آف لاء نے گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ کو سراہا اور موجودہ ماحولیاتی چیلنجز کے تناظر میں ایک اہم پیش رفت قرار دیا۔
