Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob yesterday met with Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training and Federal Minister for National History and Heritage Mr. Shafqat Mahmood at his office in Islamabad. The Vice Chancellor briefed the Federal Minister about increase in students enrollments, faculties and teaching departments and the academic, research and development activities. He also briefed about the university participation and achievements in national and international rankings. The Vice Chancellor thanked the Federal Government for providing special development package and a record number of scholarships under Ehsaas Scholarships Program for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. On this occasion, the Minister said that the Government of Pakistan is providing huge support to the Higher Educational institutions to provide quality education. He said that the government has allocated a record amount in the current budget for the development of the higher education sector. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a historical university and its achievements in the field of research and development are a good sign for the socio-economic development of the region. On this occasion, establishment of Cholistan Heritage Museum, Art Gallery and Academic Block at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was also discussed. He said that the construction of this Culture and Heritage Research Center and Museum would be of immense help in promoting research on  the history and cultural heritage of South Punjab and in preserving it .The Minister appreciated the proposal which will revive Cholistani Cultural Heritage and assured his full support for this  project at every forum.

وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پورپروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے گزشتہ روز وفاقی وزیربرائے ایجوکیشن اینڈپروفیشنل ٹریننگ اور وفاقی وزیربرائے نیشنل ہسٹری اینڈ ہیریٹیج شفقت محمود سے اسلام آباد میں ان کے دفتر میں ملاقات کی۔اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر نے وفاقی وزیر کو اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں جاری تعلیمی،تدریسی،تحقیقی اور ترقیاتی سرگرمیوں سے آگاہ کیا۔انہوں نے بتایا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انتہائی مختصر عرصے میں حجم کے اعتبار سے کئی گناء بڑھ گئی ہے اور طلباء،اساتذہ اور شعبہ جات کی تعداد میں غیر معمولی اضافہ ہوا ہے۔ اسی طرح عالمی درجہ بندیوں میں بھی نمایاں طور پر شامل ہو گئی ہے۔وائس چانسلر نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کیلئے وفاقی حکومت کی جانب سے خصوصی ترقیاتی پیکج اور ریکارڈ تعداد میں احساس سکالرشپس کی فراہمی پرشکریہ ادا کیا۔اس موقع پر وفاقی وزیر شفقت محمودنے کہا کہ تعلیم کا شعبہ حکومت کی اولین ترجیحات میں شامل ہے اور حکومت نے اعلی تعلیم کے شعبے کی ترقی کیلئے موجودہ بجٹ میں ریکارڈ رقم مختص کی ہے۔ تمام جامعات میں تحقیقی معیار میں اضافے کیلئے وفاقی حکومت بھرپور مدد اور معاونت کر رہی ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور ایک تاریخی دانش گاہ ہے اور اس کی ترقی اور تحقیق کے شعبے میں کامیابیاں خوش آئند ہیں۔اس موقع پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں چولستان ہیرٹیج میوزیم،آرٹ گیلری اور اکیڈمک بلاک کی تعمیر پر بھی تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ اس کلچر اینڈ ہیریٹیج ریسرچ سینٹراور میوزیم کی تعمیر سے جنوبی پنجاب کی تاریخ اور ثقافتی ورثے پر تحقیق میں اور اس عظیم علاقے کا تہذیبی اثاثہ محفوظ کرنے میں غیرمعمولی مدد ملے گی۔ وائس چانسلر نے وفاقی وزیر کو کلچر اینڈہیریٹیج ریسرچ سینٹر اور میوزیم کی تعمیر کیلئے منصوبے کی  تفصیلات سے آگاہ کیا۔وفاقی وزیر نے کہا کہ جنوبی پنجاب اور خصوصا بہاول پور اور چولستان کے تاریخی اورثقافتی ورثے کو محفوظ کرنے کیلئے کلچر اینڈہیریٹیج ریسرچ سینٹر کی تعمیر انتہائی باعث مسرت ہے اور وہ اس کیلئے ہر فورم پراس منصوبے کوروبہ عمل لانے کیلئے بھرپورمدد اور معاونت کریں گے۔
