A one-day seminar and interactive session on "Role of Media in Promoting Positive Youth Development in Pakistan

A one-day seminar and interactive session on "Role of Media in Promoting Positive Youth Development in Pakistan" was jointly held by SDGs Collaboration Center and Fatima Jinnah Women Leadership Center at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. As the session's moderator, Dr. Mariam Abbas Soharwardi, Additional Director of the SDGs Collaboration Center, highlighted the functions of both centers, which together provide effective platforms for fostering positive youth development by offering information and resources that can assist young people in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in life. In a special message Vice Chancellor Eng. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob urged that youth not only represent the future of our country, they are also one of society's main agents of change and progress. Naeem Masood (a well-known Pakistani writer, columnist and education is) delivered a thought provoking lecture and explain how media plays a crucial role in shaping the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of young people in Pakistan. He said positive youth development is an important issue in Pakistan, as the country has a large youth population that faces numerous challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion. Therefore, media can play an important role in fostering positive youth development in Pakistan by promoting positive messages and providing young people with accurate and reliable information.  At the end of seminar, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Patron FJWLC and SDGsCC appreciated informative lecture of Naeem Masood, and stressed upon role of all forms of media for positive engagement of youth through informal education and developmental programs. She said that media as a platform for young people to express themselves and giving young people a voice, media can help them feel empowered in their communities to become capable leaders.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں SDGs کولیبریشن سنٹر اور فاطمہ جناح ویمن لیڈرشپ سنٹر نے مشترکہ طور پر پاکستان میں نوجوانوں کی مثبت ترقی میں میڈیا کا کردار کے موضوع پر ایک روزہ سیمینار اور انٹرایکٹو سیشن کا انعقاد کیا۔ اپنے خصوصی پیغام میں وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے زور دیا کہ نوجوان نہ صرف ہمارے ملک کے مستقبل کی نمائندگی کرتے ہیں بلکہ وہ معاشرے کی تبدیلی اور ترقی کے اہم ایجنٹوں میں سے ایک ہیں۔ نعیم مسعود معروف پاکستانی مصنف، کالم نگار اور ماہر تعلیم نے ایک فکر انگیز لیکچر دیا اور بتایا کہ میڈیا کس طرح پاکستان میں نوجوانوں کے رویوں، عقائد اور طرز عمل کی تشکیل میں اہم کردار ادا کرتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان میں نوجوانوں کی مثبت ترقی ایک اہم مسئلہ ہے، کیونکہ ملک میں نوجوانوں کی ایک بڑی آبادی ہے جسے غربت، بے روزگاری اور سماجی اخراج سمیت متعدد چیلنجز کا سامنا ہے۔ اس لیے میڈیا مثبت پیغامات کو فروغ دے کر اور نوجوانوں کو درست اور قابل اعتماد معلومات فراہم کر کے پاکستان میں نوجوانوں کی مثبت ترقی کو فروغ دینے میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتا ہے۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، سرپرست SDGs کولیبریشن سنٹر اور فاطمہ جناح ویمن لیڈرشپ سنٹر نے نعیم مسعود کے معلوماتی لیکچر کو سراہا اور غیر رسمی تعلیم اور ترقیاتی پروگراموں کے ذریعے نوجوانوں کی مثبت مشغولیت کے لیے میڈیا کی تمام اقسام کے کردار پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میڈیا نوجوانوں کے لیے اپنے اظہار کے لیے ایک پلیٹ فارم کے طور پر اور نوجوانوں کو آواز دینے کے لیے، میڈیا انھیں اپنی کمیونٹیز میں بااختیار ہونے کا احساس دلانے میں مدد کر سکتا ہے تاکہ وہ قابل رہنما بن سکیں۔ ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر کولیبریشن سینٹر SDGs نے دونوں مراکز کے افعال پر روشنی ڈالی، جو کہ ایک ساتھ مل کر معلومات اور وسائل کی پیشکش کرتے ہوئے نوجوانوں کی مثبت ترقی کو فروغ دینے کے لیے موثر پلیٹ فارم فراہم کرتے ہیں جو نوجوانوں کو علم کی ترقی میں مدد فراہم کر سکتے ہیں۔
