The 1st Women Economic Empowerment Expo 2023 and Symposium was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The symposium was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Emerson University Multan Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Additional Secretary Higher Education Department South Punjab Malik Ata-ul-Haq, Dr. Abid Rasheed Gill, Chairman Department of Economics and Focal Person Dr. Maryam Abbas Soharwardi addressed. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is working for social and economic development. Pakistan's real wealth is its workforce, whose training and upskilling will be an important step towards value edition. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti discussed in detail the role of academia for women's economic independence. She said that investment and other measures for women's economic independence are essential for gender equality, poverty eradication, and participation in decision-making and sustainable development. Additional Secretary Higher Education Department South Punjab Malik Ata-ul-Haq said that the social independence of women will help in the elimination of gender discrimination in the society. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan said that the active and practical role of women in society is inevitable and necessary for economic development. Dr. Abid Rasheed Gill said that economic discrimination based on gender should be eliminated in Pakistani society and equal opportunities for development should be provided to them. He said that currently more than 7.5 crore women are engaged in social activities. Dr. Maryam Abbas Soharwardi said that this event has been organized purely in accordance with the vision of the university leadership to highlight the development of women and their social and economic role. She tuned women's economic rights as human rights. Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean, Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences also spoke in the closing session and appreciated the organization of Women Economic Empowerment Expo and Symposium. On this occasion, a huge exhibition was also organized for women, traders and industrialists in small and medium scale businesses in various sectors and poster competitions were also held. The entrepreneur section showcased home crafts and products. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem, Dr. Atif Naveed, Dr. Jam Sajjad Hussain, Dr. Samar Fahad, Dr. Bushra Siddique, Dr. Kulsoom Akhtar, Fatima Junaid and other faculty members played prominent roles in organizing the conference. This mega event was organized by Faculty of Social Sciences collaboration with Department of Economics, SDGs Center, Fatima Jinnah Women Empowerment Center, United Nations Development, SDGs Academy Islamabad, TEVTA SMEDA Regional Office Multan, Akhowat Foundation, Higher Education Department Punjab, Punjab Higher Education Commission, In collaboration with Women Technology House, Islamabad, Bint-e-Hawa Family Training Institute Islamabad, Herbo Gate Lahore, Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bahawalpur, The Listner.pk, All Secure Pakistan, Karachi, Al Khidmat Foundation, Al Noor Foundation Bahawalpur and Sanat Zar Bahawalpur.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں پہلا ویمن اکنامک ایمپاورمنٹ ایکسپواینڈ سمپوزیم منعقد ہوا۔ سمپوزیم کا افتتاح وائس چانسلراسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر ایمرسن یونیورسٹی ملتان پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد رمضان، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز، ایڈیشنل سیکرٹری ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ ساؤتھ پنجاب ملک عطا ء الحق، ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل چیئرمین شعبہ معاشیات اور فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی نے خطاب کیا۔ وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کا کہنا تھا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور سماجی اور معاشی ترقی کے لیے کام کر رہی ہے۔ پاکستان کی اصل دولت افرادی قوت ہے جس کی تربیت اور مہارتوں میں اضافہ ویلیوایڈیشن کی جانب اہم قدم ہو گا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے خواتین کی معاشی خود مختاری کے لیے اکیڈمیا کے کردار پر تفصیلی تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ خواتین کی معاشی خود مختاری کے لیے سرمایہ کاری اور دیگر اقدامات صنفی برابری، غربت کے خاتمے، فیصلہ سازی میں اشتراک عمل اور دیرپا ترقی کے لیے ضروری ہیں۔ ایڈیشنل سیکرٹری ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ ساؤتھ پنجاب ملک عطاء الحق نے کہا کہ خواتین کی سماجی خود مختاری معاشرے میں موجود صنفی امتیاز کے خاتمے میں معاون ہوگی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد رمضان نے کہا کہ معاشرے میں خواتین کا فعال اور عملی کردار ناگریز ہے اور معاشی ترقی کے لیے ضروری ہے۔ ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل نے کہا کہ پاکستانی معاشرے میں جنس کی بنیاد پرمعاشی تفریق کو ختم کرنا ہو گا اور انہیں ترقی کے یکساں مواقع فراہم کرنا ہوگا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس وقت 7.5 کروڑ سے زائد خواتین سماجی سرگرمیوں میں مصروف عمل ہیں۔ ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی نے کہا یہ ایونٹ خالصتاً خواتین کی ترقی اور ان کے سماجی اور معاشی کردار کو اجاگر کرنے کے لیے یونیورسٹی لیڈر شپ کے ویژن کے مطابق منعقد کیا گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے خواتین کے معاشی حقوق کو انسانی حقوق قرار دیا۔ اختتامی اجلاس میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیو لوجیکل سائنسز نے بھی خطاب کیا اور ویمن اکنامک ایمپاورمنٹ ایکسپواینڈ سمپوزیم کے انعقاد کو سراہا۔ اس موقع پر مختلف شعبوں میں چھوٹے اور درمیانے درجے میں کاروبار کرنے والی خواتین، تاجروں اور صنعت کاروں کے لیے بہت بڑی نمائش کا بھی اہتمام کیا گیا اور پوسٹر مقابلے بھی منعقد ہوئے۔ انٹرپرینیور سیکشن میں گھریلو دستکاروں اور مصنوعات کی نمائش کی گئی۔ کانفرنس کے انعقاد میں ڈاکٹر سلمان بن نعیم، ڈاکٹر عاطف نوید، ڈاکٹر جام سجاد حسین، ڈاکٹر ثمر فہد، ڈاکٹر بشریٰ صدیق، ڈاکٹر کلثوم اختر، فاطمہ جنید اور دیگر فیکلٹی ممبران نے نمایاں کردار ادا کیا۔ اس میگا ایونٹ کا اہتمام فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے شعبہ معاشیات، SDGs سینٹر، فاطمہ جناح ویمن ایمپاورمنٹ سینٹر، یونائیٹڈنیشن ڈویلپمنٹ، SDGs اکیڈمی اسلام آباد، TEVTA ، SMEDA کے ریجنل آفس ملتان، اخوت فاؤنڈیشن، ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ پنجاب، پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن، ویمن ٹیکنالوجی ہاؤس، اسلام آباد، بنتِ حوا فیملی ٹریننگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ اسلام آباد، ہربو گیٹ لاہور، ویمن چیمبر آف کامرس اینڈ انڈسٹری بہاولپور، The Listner.pk، آل سیکیور پاکستان، کراچی، الخدمت فاؤنڈیشن، النور فاؤنڈیشن بہاولپوراورصنعت زار بہاول پورکے اشتراک سے کیا۔
