The First National Camping Festival was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Cross Route Club, IUB DOST and Tourism Department Punjab. The purpose of this program was to promote winter tourism in South Punjab especially in Bahawalpur. The way people turn to the northern regions areas in summer. Due to the relatively good weather from November to March, the palaces and mansions of Bahawalpur, the forts of Rohi, the forests of Lal Sonhara, the shrines and mosques of Uch Sharif, the monuments of Hakra civilization and its beautiful culture provide ample opportunities for winter tourism. On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, said that thanks to the special guidance of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the measures taken by the present government to promote tourism in Pakistan. Not only the academic department was established but also a directorate was set up. He said that South Punjab is the center of the Solomon Mountains and the vast desert of Cholistan and is very suitable for winter tourism. Mukarram Khan Tareen of Cross Route Club said that the 32 forts in Cholistan and the desert safari Cholistani area are very suitable for tourism. He also extended special thanks to Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob for organizing the National Camping Festival. On this occasion, Salman Qureshi Director IUB DOST informed about the steps taken for the promotion of long term tourism in this region. Zubair Ahmed Siddiqui, Senior Anchor of PTV said that Bahawalpur is a wonderful city and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has hosted a wonderful camping festival. Obaidullah, a well-known journalist and writer, said that tourism in the northern regions ends in the month of December. Mid-country tourism Bahawalpur can be the best center. The host of the program, Dr. Imran Rashid, thanked the local and foreign delegates for participating in the National Camping Festival. More than 150 motorbikers from across the country participated in the two day festival. In addition to Camp Night at Baghdad Al Jadeed Campus, TDCP double tracker bus toured the historical sites of Bahawalpur including Baghdad ul Jadeed Railway Station, Central Library, Museum, Victoria Hospital, Chowk Fawara, Noor Mahal, ancient gates of Bahawalpur and Fort Derawar.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں پہلا نیشنل کیمپنگ فیسٹیول منعقد ہوا۔ یہ ایونٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف ٹورازم اینڈ ہاسپٹیلٹی، کراس روٹ کلب، آئی یو بی دوست اور ٹورازم ڈیپارٹمنٹ پنجاب کے تعاون سے منعقد ہوا۔ اس پروگرام کا مقصد جنوبی پنجاب خاص طور پر بہاولپور میں سرمائی سیاحت کا فروغ ہے۔ جس طرح لوگ موسم گرما میں شمالی علاقہ جات کا رخ کرتے ہیں۔ نومبر سے مارچ تک نسبتاً بہتر موسم کی بدولت بہاولپور کے محلات اور حویلیاں، روہی کے قلعے، لال سونہارہ کے جنگلات، اچ شریف کے مزارت اور مساجد، ہاکٹرہ تہذیب کے آثار اور یہاں کا خوبصورت کلچر سرمائی سیاحت کے لیے بھرپور مواقع فراہم کرتا ہے۔ اس موقع پر اپنے خطاب میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جواد اقبال ڈین فیکلٹی آف مینجمنٹ سائنسز نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی خصوصی ہدایت اور موجودہ حکومت کی سیاحت کے فروغ کے لیے اقدامات کی بدولت یونیورسٹی نے سیاحت کے لیے نہ صرف تدریسی شعبہ قائم کیا بلکہ ایک ڈائریکٹوریٹ کا قیام بھی عمل میں آیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جنوبی پنجاب کوہ سلیمان بلند و بالا پہاڑوں اور چولستان کے وسیع صحرا کا مرکز ہے اور موسم سرما میں ٹورازم کے لیے نہایت موزوں ہے۔ کراس روٹ کلب کے مکرم خان ترین نے کہا کہ چولستان میں موجود 32قلعے اور ڈیزٹ سفاری چولستانی علاقے بہت موزوں ہیں۔ انہوں نے نیشنل کیمپنگ فیسٹیول کے انعقاد پر وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کا خصوصی شکریہ ادا کیا۔ اس موقع پر سلمان قریشی ڈائریکٹر آئی یو بی دوست نے دیرپاسیاحت کے فروغ کے لیے اقدامات سے آگاہ کیا۔ زبیر احمد صدیقی پی ٹی وی کے سینئر اینکر نے کہا کہ بہاولپور شاندار شہر ہے اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے کیمپنگ فیسٹیول کی شاندار میزبانی کی ہے۔ نامور صحافی و ادیب عبیداللہ نے کہا کہ شمالی علاقہ جات میں سیاحت دسمبر کے مہینے میں ختم ہو جاتی ہے۔ مڈ کنٹری ٹورازم بہاولپور بہترین مرکز ثابت ہو سکتا ہے۔ پروگرام کے میزبان ڈاکٹر عمران رشید نے نیشنل کیمپنگ فیسٹیول میں شرکت پر ملکی اور غیر ملکی مندوبین کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ اس ایک روزہ فیسٹیول میں ملک بھر سے 150سے زائد موٹر بائیکرز نے شرکت کی۔ بغدادالجدید کیمپس میں کیمپ نائٹ کے علاوہ TDCPڈبل ٹریکر بس میں بہاولپور کے تاریخی مقامات کی سیر کی جن میں بغدادالجدید ریلوے اسٹیشن، سنٹرل لائبریری، میوزیم، وکٹوریہ ہسپتال، چوک فوارہ، نور محل، بہاولپور کے قدیمی دروازے اور قلعہ ڈیراورکا دورہ کیا۔
