The first two-day international conference on interfaith harmony has started in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. In his presidential address in the opening session, Senior Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum said that the main theme of this year is the role of religious harmony in global sustainability. In this conference, from many countries including Pakistan, Brunei Darussalam, USA, Uganda, Belgium and Malaysia eminent scholars like Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Prof. Dr. Tne Wickman, Prof. Dr. Charles Cohen, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz Ali, Prof. Dr. Herman, Prof. Dr. Christopher Miller, Prof. Dr. Kulsoom Pracha, Pandit Marari Lal Badhanal, Reverend Munawar Shahzad Umar, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Muhammad Rizq, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Shamsur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir Laghari, Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain Langriyal, Chairman Department of Islamic Studies, Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan, Prof. Dr. Abdul Qadoos Suhaib, Chairman Islamic Research Center, Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan, Prof. Dr. Zia ur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Dr. Abu-ul-Hasan Shabbir Ahmed, Dr. Muhammad Imran, Dr. Ayesha Qurarat-ul-Ain and Dr. Riaz Ahmed Saeed, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed participated. She said that the purpose of establishing educational institutions is not only to equip students with education, but solving social problems is also an important manifesto of educational institutions. In this way, the creation of modern knowledge becomes possible or the ways are developed for it. Being a history-making institution, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is the guardian of such binding traditions. Along with the training of students, successful efforts have been made to solve social problems. On this occasion, along with students and teachers, along with the most reliable Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh scholars and professors of universities and colleges of Pakistan. The participation of influential people of the area is also expected. The aim of the conference is to review the role of religion in peace-building, inter-faith harmony and sustainable development. In this way, solutions to the problems faced by the minorities and majorities in Pakistan, the promotion of peace and the study of religions will be paved. The conference is going to provide a platform for researchers and students from all over the world to present their research on interfaith harmony and tolerance to experts. Since efforts for inter-faith harmony and peace have not been made in such a systematic manner in the history of Bahawalpur, it is being said that this conference will be a historic one for South Punjab. In the inaugural session, Registrar Muhammad Shaji ur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Rana, Chairman Department of Media and Communication Studies, Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, Director of Public Relations, senior faculty members, employees and students were present. Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies, while appreciating the efforts of the Department of Religious Studies, gave a message that undoubtedly, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has always done more than its share for the promotion of social values and peace. The participation of scholars, the gathering of people of different religions and the participation of international scholars in this conference shows their confidence in the university, while this process speaks of their sincere efforts to establish peace in the society. The guest of honor, Dr. Tanveer Qasim, Director Coordination, Punjab Higher Education Commission, said that Islam means peace. The Holy Quran encourages the development of peaceful relations with people of other religions and clearly forbids coercion. The Department of Religions and Interfaith Harmony has organized this conference on a very important topic, the practical effects of which will be seen in the society. The recent conference is an important need of the society. Such initiatives should be done not only in universities but also in colleges and schools. The focal person of the conference, Dr. Sajeela Kausar, said that in the two-day conference, the strategies of inter-faith harmony and global integration, inter-faith harmony and world peace, promotion of mutual understanding among religious communities, comprehensive approach to religious harmony, environmental responsibility and religion for economic stability, interfaith dialogue, role of youth and sustainable cooperation, based on religious teachings for justice and well-being. Initiatives and challenges, controversies, and the role of media will be discussed. She thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar and Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rehman for organizing and sponsoring the conference.

بہاول پور () اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی پر پہلی دو روزہ بین الاقوامی کانفرنس کا آغاز ہو گیا۔ افتتاحی سیشن میں اپنے صدارتی خطاب میں سینئر ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیولوجیکل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم نے کہا کہ رواں برس کا مرکزی موضوع ''عالمی پائیداری میں مذہبی ہم آہنگی کا کردار ''ہے۔ اس کانفرنس میں پاکستان، برونائی دار السلام، امریکہ، یوگنڈا، بیلجیم اور ملائشیا سمیت متعدد ممالک سے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اکرم، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ٹی نے وک مین، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر چارلس کوہن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد ممتاز علی، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ہرمن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر کرسٹوفر ملر، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر کلثوم پراچہ، پنڈت مراری لعل بڈھنال، ریورنٹ منور شہزاد عمر، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مصطفی محمد رزق، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر غلام شمس الرحمن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ارشد منیر لغاری، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر الطاف حسین لنگڑیال چیئرمین شعبہ اسلامک اسٹڈیز بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالقدوس صہیب چیئرمین اسلامک ریسرچ سنٹر بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ضیاء الرحمن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالغفار، ڈاکٹر ابو الحسن شبیر احمد، ڈاکٹر محمد عمران، ڈاکٹر عائشہ قرأۃ العین اور ڈاکٹر ریاض احمد سعید، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سعید احمد جیسے نامور اسکالر شرکت کر رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ تعلیمی اداروں کے قیام کا مقصد صرف طلبا کو زیورِ تعلیم سے آراستہ کرنا ہی نہیں ہوتا بلکہ معاشرتی مسائل کا حل بھی تعلیمی اداروں کا اہم منشور ہوتا ہے۔ اس طرح تخلیق علم جدید ممکن ہوتی ہے یا اس کے لیے راہیں استوار ہوجاتی ہیں۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور ایک تاریخ ساز ادارہ ہونے کی وجہ سے ایسی ہی تابندہ روایات کا امین ہے۔ یہاں طلبہ کی تربیت کے ساتھ ساتھ معاشرتی مسائل کے حل کے لیے بھی کامیاب کوششیں کی جاتی رہی ہیں۔ اس موقع پر طلبہ اور اساتذہ کے ساتھ ساتھ پاکستان کے معتبر ترین مسلم، مسیحی، ہندو اور سکھ اسکالرز اور یونیورسٹیز و کالجز کے پروفیسروں کے ساتھ ساتھ علاقہ کے بااثر لوگوں کی شرکت بھی متوقع ہے۔ کانفرنس کا مقصد قیام امن و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور پائیدار ترقی میں مذہب کے کرادر کا جائزہ لینا ہے۔ اس طرح پاکستان میں اقلیتوں اور اکثریتوں کو درپیش مسائل کے حل، فروغ امن اور مطالعہ مذاہب عالم کی راہیں ہموار ہوں گی۔ کانفرنس دنیا بھر کے محققین و طلبا کو ایسا پلیٹ فارم مہیا کرنے جا رہی ہے جہاں وہ بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور رواداری پر اپنی تحقیق ماہرین کے سامنے رکھ سکیں گے۔ چونکہ بہاول پور کی تاریخ میں اتنے منظم انداز میں تا حال بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور امن کی کوششیں نہیں کی گئیں لہذا کہا جا رہا ہے کہ جنوبی پنجاب کے لیے یہ کانفرنس ایک تاریخی حیثیت کی حامل ہو گی۔ افتتاحی سیشن میں رجسٹرار محمد شجیع الرحمن، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شہزاد رانا چیئرمین شعبہ میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن اسٹڈیز، شہزاد احمد خالد ڈائریکٹر پبلک ریلیشنز، سینئر فیکلٹی ممبران، ملازمین اور طلباء وطالبات موجود تھے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عربیک اسٹڈیز  نے شعبہ ادیان عالم کی کوششوں کو سراہتے ہوئے پیغام دیا کہ بلاشبہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے معاشرتی اقدار اور امن کے فروغ کے لیے ہمیشہ اپنے حصے سے بڑھ کر کام کیا ہے۔ اس کانفرنس میں علمائے کرام کا شامل ہونا، مختلف مذاہب کے لوگوں کا اکٹھا ہونا اور بین الاقوامی اسکالرز کا شریک ہونا جہاں یونیورسٹی پر ان کے اعتماد کو ظاہر کرتا ہے وہیں ا یہ عمل معاشرے میں قیام امن کے لیے ان کی پر خلوص کاوشوں کا منہ بولتا ثبوت بھی ہے۔ مہمان اعزاز ڈاکٹر تنویر قاسم ڈائریکٹر کوارڈینیشن پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن نے کہا کہ اسلام کا مطلب ہی امن ہے۔ قرآن مجید نے دیگر مذاہب کے لوگوں کے ساتھ پر امن تعلقات کے فروغ کی تلقین کی ہے اور جبر سے واضح طور پر منع فرمایا ہے۔ شعبہ ادیان عالم وبین المذاہب ہم آہنگی نے ایک انتہائی اہم موضوع پر اس کانفرنس کا انعقاد کیا ہے جس کے عملی اثرات معاشرے میں نظر آئیں گے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ شعبہ ادیان عالم وبین المذاہب ہم آہنگی، اسلام کے ساتھ ساتھ دیگر مذاہب کے غیر متعصبانہ مطالعے کو فروغ دیتا ہے۔ حالیہ کانفرنس معاشرے کی ایک اہم ضرورت ہے۔ اس طرح کے اقدامات نہ صرف یونیورسٹیوں بلکہ کالجز اور سکولوں میں بھی ہوتے رہنا چاہیں۔ کانفرنس کی فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر سجیلہ کوثر نے کہا کہ دو روزہ کانفرنس میں بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور عالمی انضمام کی حکمت عملیاں، بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور امن عالم، مذہبی فرقوں کے درمیان باہمی افہام و تفہیم کا فروغ، مذہبی ہم آہنگی کے لیے جامع نقطہ نظر، اقتصادی استحکام کے لیے ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری اور مذہب، بین المذاہب مکالمہ، نوجوانوں کا کردار اور پائیدار تعاون، انصاف اور بہبود کے لیے مذہبی تعلیمات پر مبنی اقدامات اور چیلنجز، تنازعات، اور میڈیا کا کردار پر بات کی جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کانفرنس کے انعقاد اور سرپرستی پر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر اور ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عربیک اسٹڈیز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔
