The second two-day international media and communication conference was organized at the IUB

The Department of Media and Communication Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized 2nd two-day international media and communication conference the theme of which was Media, Science and Society in the Contemporary World. Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob while praised the department for organizing the conference and said that eminent intellectuals, journalists, teachers and foreign experts of the country are participating in the conference whose experiences and ideas will benefit our teachers and students. He said that the importance of media is undeniable and that is why it is called the fourth pillar of the state. He said that media can also be considered as the fifth pillar of a country in view of its importance and media and academia together can play an important role in the development of a country and society. Describing the topic of the conference as very important, he said that while the development of science and technology has changed every section of the society, the media is also moving from print, electronic to social media and digitization. Therefore, this conference will help our students to understand and harmonize these aspects. He praised the practical training and the intellectual training through webinars, seminars and conferences conducted in the media and communication studies department to expose the students to practical journalism in the past years and said that these two aspects are important for the professional career of the students. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Chairman of the Department Prof. Dr. Abdul Wajid Khan, eminent intellectual, former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Javed Jabbar, eminent journalist and analyst Mazhar Abbas, Talat Hussain, Athar Kazmi, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences International Islamic University of Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Director School of Media and Communication Bahaud din Zakariya University, Multan, Prof. Dr. Shehzad Ali, Professor University of Cambridge UK Dr. Graham Murdrick, Prof. Townson University Maryland USA, Prof. Rauf Arif, Charles University Czech Republic Republic and others key speakers addressing, while 30 research papers were presented in five sessions of the conference.

ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سٹڈیز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے زیر اہتمام دوسری دو روزہ بین الاقوامی میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن کانفرنس منعقد کی گئی جس کا موضوع ہمعصر دنیا میں میڈیا، سائنس اور سوسائٹی تھا۔ کانفرنس کے افتتاحی سیشن سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کانفرنس کے انعقاد پر ڈیپارٹمنٹ کو مبارکباد دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مجھے یہ جان کر بہت خوشی ہو رہی ہے کہ کانفرنس میں ملک کے نامور دانشور، صحافی، اساتذہ اور غیر ملکی ماہرین شرکت کر رہے ہیں جن کے تجربات اور خیالات سے ہمارے اساتذہ اور طلباء وطالبات مستفید ہوں گے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میڈیا کی اہمیت مسلمہ ہے اور اسی وجہ سے اسے مملکت کا چوتھا ستون کہا جاتا ہے۔ ا نہوں نے کہا کہ میڈیا کو بھی اس کی اہمیت کے پیش نظر کسی مملکت کا پانچواں ستون قرار دیا جا سکتا ہے اور میڈیا اور اکیڈمیا ملکر کسی ملک اور سوسائٹی کی تعمیر و تشکیل میں اہم کردار ادا کرسکتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کانفرنس کے موضوع کو بہت اہم قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ سائنس و ٹیکنالوجی کی ترقی نے جہاں سوسائٹی کے ہر طبقے کو تبدیل کیا ہے وہیں میڈیا بھی پرنٹ، الیکٹرانک سے سوشل میڈیا اور ڈیجیٹلائزیشن کی طرف منتقل ہو رہا ہے۔ لہذا یہ کانفرنس ہمارے طلباء وطالبات کو ان پہلوؤں سے آگاہی دینے اور ہم آہنگ کرنے کا باعث ہو گی۔ انہوں نے گزشتہ سالوں میں میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سٹڈیز ڈیپارٹمنٹ میں طلباء وطالبات کو عملی صحافت سے روشناس کرانے کے لیے کی جانے والی عملی تربیت اور ویبینار ز، سیمینارز اور کانفرنسز کے ذریعے فکری تربیت کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ دونوں پہلو طلباء وطالبات کے پروفیشنل کیریئر میں بہت مددگار ثابت ہوں گے۔ کانفرنس سے ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی،چیئرمین شعبہ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالواجد خان، ممتاز دانشور، سابق وزیر اطلاعات و نشریات جاوید جبار، ممتار صحافی تجزیہ نگار مظہر عباس، طلعت حسین، اطہر کاظمی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز انٹرنیشنل اسلامک یونیورسٹی اسلام آباد، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ظفر اقبال، ڈائریکٹر سکول آف میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن بہاء الدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شہزاد علی، پروفیسر یونیورسٹی آف کیمبرج برطانیہ ڈاکٹر گراہم مرڈرک، پروفیسر ٹاؤن سن یونیورسٹی میری لینڈ امریکہ، پروفیسر رؤف عارف، چارلس یونیورسٹی چیک ری پبلک ڈاکٹر سوزٹ، پروفیسر یونیورسٹی آف موہانسبرگ جنوبی افریقہ ڈاکٹر ویلے ڈوڈاکسی، پروفیسر میلے یونیورسٹی سویڈن پیلے پرومیکیسن نے بھی آن لائن خطاب کیا۔ کانفرنس کے فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر عابدہ نورین اور سیکرٹری رضا ماجد تھے جبکہ کانفرنس کے پانچ سیشنز میں 30 ریسرچ پیپر پیش کیے گئے۔ افتتاحی سیشن کی میزبانی ڈاکٹر عابدہ نورین اور آغا صدف مہدی نے کی جبکہ سیشن کی صدارت ڈاکٹر مصور حسین بخاری، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شہزاد رانا اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد سلیم نے کی۔
