Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution

The Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution (CPCR) is working under the umbrella of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. It was approved by the 59th meeting of the Syndicate, dated 23-June-2015, item No. 25, and shifted to the Department of Political Science vide letter No. 294/Acad dated 02.08.2019.The Center is the focal point of teaching, research, and training in peace-building and conflict resolution at the IUB. The center is committed to transforming conflict into peace on campus, in society, and throughout the globe by training workshops, conferences, academic courses, and research for mediation, arbitration, and consultation. This Center also assist both IUB and Pakistani community beyond campus in building skills and promoting understanding of peace, negotiations, communication and conflict resolution mechanism. It also engages the local, national, and international stakeholders in politics and civil society. CPRC is intended to bring peace into society by incorporating alternative conflict resolution mechanisms into the curriculum. It aims to attract and develop those groups of students and researchers who wish to develop and extend their understandings of the procedures involved in conflicts and are interested in improving their knowledge of how to manage conflicts constructively.
