Renewable energy is an emerging discipline of science and technology in the recent era, in order to harness the available sources of green energy on earth and development of various energy systems. There is currently an increasing demand on renewable Energy production/storage due to limited availability/supply of hydrocarbon fuels along with the global warming problem. These are truly exciting times for Renewable Energy: technology is advancing, costs are reducing and approaches are changing. The Renewable Energy Department at IoP-IUB is at the forefront of renewable energy research and have collaborations with many international (KSA and China) and national (PU, COMSATS, MNSUET Multan, FC College and UET-Lahore) level institutes/organizations on a variety of projects. The aim of the renewable energy department is to graduate qualified personals specialized in renewable energy such as the solar, wind, geothermal and biogas powers that will satisfy the need of local and regional market in the field of renewable energy. Our taught programs are dedicated to training the brilliant minds of tomorrow, ensuring that future generations and the renewable energy sector are equipped with highly skilled individuals who can deliver for us all.

In the experimental field, the renewable energy department utilizes a broad range of modern state of the art measurement techniques for understanding and development of new materials/devices. For the purpose, various characterization techniques including X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX), High-Resolution Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM), Solar Simulator, Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-VIS), Thermo-electric System, Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and I-V characteristics are being used in the research projects.
